Wedding shoes- Color

JPCD, on February 23, 2018 at 7:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
Hi everyone!

I just received Ives what I thought would be my wedding shoes. Yay! They’re nude with embellishments. However I showed my mom and my MOH and both feel that Ivory/white would be nicer and more “bridal”. The shoe does come in Ivory, I would just have to reorder and pay more money. I was able to get a discount on the nude shoes from Lord and Taylor. They don’t carry the Ivory unfortunately. I’d like to hear your opinions. I know a lot of brides wear shoes that are far from white, like Blue or red. I will attach the photos of both shoes so you all can see.

For reference my dress is ivory.

Thanks everyone !

You can barely tell the difference and probably won’t see most or any of the shoe under your dress. Hold the nude shoes up to your dress and see how it looks. The notion of white or ivory being more bridal is, let’s say, a more traditional point of view. Whichever shoe you wear will be bridal because you’re the bride. The shoes are gorgeous.

Thank you. I also feel like the difference is negligible. I. Took that pic in a basement so I think the dark lighting made it look more gold than it is. Idk.

My my mom is very traditional. And I also agree that the shoe will only be visible when I actively show it in my getting ready photos. I just didn’t wanna regret my decisions. I’m very indecisive so i always have to see what other people think to be reassured.

My dress is still at the bridal shop waiting for my fittings. But I’m looking at photos trying to compare. :/

I can’t even really detect much of a difference and I’m an artist who works with color all day (or night) long. I’d stick with the shoes you already purchased, but that’s just my humble opinion. Hell, I’m wearing ivory lace-crochet “cowboy” boots, so I may not be the one to ask.

Take the shoes to the bridal shop and hold it against the dress. It’s impossible to tell from pictures.

My gown was pink with gold overlay and I must have ordered 3 pair of shoes from Amazon that said they were gold and looked gold online but were nearly silver in person. Fortunately, I have Prime so returns didn’t cost anything.

Best to see it in person and go with your gut.

I would just stick with what you have. Bridal shoes don’t have to be white!

My mom always would tell me I would probably get married in cowboy boots or sneakers since I lived in cowboy boots in the 80s. (I wore shoes but changed into gold converse for the reception).

I love it it and can’t wait to see your BAM.

    I think they're fine, OP.
A little colour difference never hurt anyone. Besides, if your dress is floor length, no one will even notice. And even if your dress is tea length or shorter, no one is going to pay that much attention to your feet.

I would stick with them too. I'm also wearing a nude color shoe. I figure nude goes with everything and I can wear them again.

I’d keep the nude. Personally I can’t tell much of a difference. And unless the ivory matched perfectly, I’d rather have the nude anyway. My shoes are navy, so I’m obviously not on team traditional shoes, though.

Keep them! My shoes are floral print flats, my mom also thinks I should wear something more bridal. Oh well 🙃

I would stick with the nude. I feel like with white/ivory you can't really wear them for any other formal occasion. My shoes are blush/light pink color.

Keep them, they're so pretty! I heard the brand is very uncomfortable though so keep us posted and let us know the comfort of them Smiley smile

I just bought basic white shoes (waiting for delivery). But I plan to decorate them a little so they aren't so boring. They're going to be bridal if a bride has her foot in them, regardless of tradition.

Your shoes are perfect! Your mom and MOH are referring to a very old school tradition where the bride's shoes were white or ivory. There was a post on this same topic from another bride a few weeks ago and some people shared other old-fashioned traditions that are no longer followed. One of them was how the bride no longer wears gloves with her wedding dress.

Ok-- I have similar shoes from Badgely Mischka AND they're nude. My mom and bridesmaids love them. My thing is, I don't spend a lot of money on shoes so if I'm paying $250+ on a pair then I want to be able to reuse them.

Your shoes are BEAUTIFUL. F* the haters Smiley tongue

I think nude goes great with ivory! They are so beautiful. Do you know the name of them?

Ohhh they are beautiful! I think they are so close in color or doesn’t really matter. If it makes you feel better, I am wearing blue shoes under a champagne gown because they match my colors!

Are you ever going to see them? Also watch out for the prongs on the rhinestones of those shoes. They snag everything! Tried a pair on in the store.
