Wedding shoe help

I decided to wear my favorite pair of shoes for the wedding. They are glittered regular black and white converse that I bought for prom 8 years ago when my fiancé and I started dating. I have only wore them to prom, high school and college graduation and our engagement photo session. So they are still pretty dang new and shiny. My Mom and FMIL dont want me to wear them because they are not all white. And she thinks wearing converse are tacky. I’m upset that she doesn’t like them, because they are kinda special And they were going to be my something old, as my family doesn’t have any heirlooms or old jewelry. My FH is wearing the same dress shoes he bought and wore to prom as well. But everyone thought that was special and a great idea but they are just plain black dress shoes.

Wear your converse! Plenty of people choose to wear shoes that aren't white and/or more comfortable shoes for their wedding...and yours are extra special!!

Your mom and FMIL don't get to tell you you have to wear a certain thing to be a bride. It's your day. Wear what you want.

We are thinking of getting custom converse because my FH pretty much only wears converse sneakers (other than for work or running). Who cares, depending on your dress you probably won’t even be able to see them!

I love converses and that's what I worn for my wedding. I bought brand new all white ones. I had them decorated with gems and bride written on one side and our wedding date on the other. I worn them for the ceremony, reception and after party. I worn a ballgown for my ceremony and reception so you couldn't really see them, but I worn a short dress for the after party. My husband worn dress shoes for the ceremony and our first dance then changed into a pair of black converses that were decorated with groom and our wedding date. He had never worn converses before, but decided to after I told him was. His one uncle didn't believe his aunt that I was wearing converses so I showed him my feet at the reception to prove him wrong. He was shocked. We had a very formal wedding so he probably didn't expect me to be wearing sneakers, but I wanted to wear something I was comfortable in. Although I love heels, I love converses more and I knew I wouldn't have to worry about tripping in them or being uncomfortable. If you want to wear converses, I say go for it. This is your decision not your families. My family had no say in what I worn on my feet. I was very happy with my decision to wear them because not only do I love converses, but I was comfortable all night wearing them.

Daughter's wedding was relatively formal. She wore Converse in her primary wedding color that we had customized with her new name and wedding date at a shop that makes custom t-shirts. Underneath her a-line ballgown, no one had a clue what her shoes looked like except when she lifted her skirt to walk down stairs as she entered the ceremony venue. Most importantly? She was COMFORTABLE and happy for 12-hours the day of the wedding because her feet didn't bother her a bit! It's unconventional, but especially with the sentiment attachment to your Converse, I think it's adorable and a great choice!

Converse shoes are very popular to wear under wedding gowns. If you have any fullness to the skirt, your shoes aren't going to be super noticeable anyway. Just tell them why you want to wear them and that they are marking an important date with your soon to be husband, and acknowledging where you started. You can always get some cheap white dress shoes for the ceremony if you want to avoid too much drama.

Wedding shoe help 3 I seen these on Pinterest and am really tempted to by them!! Heels are hard for me for a few reasons, 1. I’m not that graceful, 2. I have flat feet, and 3. I also have plantar fasciitis. I thought a wedge could potentially work for the ceremony and then change into these, but I’ve been looking and haven’t found anything that’s grabbing my attention.
