Wedding rings from the same place?

We got my engagement ring from Jared, so I kept thinking we’d just go to the same place and get our wedding bands from there too, especially since I have to go in every 6 months to get the ER cleaned and I have a warranty on it. The only issue is now, I’m realizing that Jared’s wedding bands are...
We got my engagement ring from Jared, so I kept thinking we’d just go to the same place and get our wedding bands from there too, especially since I have to go in every 6 months to get the ER cleaned and I have a warranty on it.

The only issue is now, I’m realizing that Jared’s wedding bands are much more expensive than other places I’ve seen, and FH and I both plan to just get plain, white gold bands so it’s not like we need anything fancy. But since I have to go to Jared anyway every 6 months to get the ER cleaned, i feel like it’d be much easier to just have my wedding band from the same place so I could deal with getting that cleaned too, and possible repairs or resizing or whatever all at the same place.

Then we were thinking about just getting my band from Jared to make my life easier, and getting FH’s band somewhere less expensive. But now I feel weird about getting our wedding bands from different places from each other? Idk why, it probably doesn’t matter but I just wanted to see what other people have done.

Did you get your wedding band and engagement ring at the same place? Did it negatively affect you if you got them in different places? And did you purchase your and your FS’s bands at the same place as each other?

Yeah I know about this! I'm thinking too if I need to get both of them dipped eventually wouldn't it be so much easier to get them done at the same place?

My wedding band and e-ring are from the same place, but FH got his band at an entirely different place due to pricing. I wanted to keep mine at the same place for the reasons you mentioned, inspections and what not.

Yeah this is what I'm leaning towards doing. I feel like I'd rather spend a little more $ on mine just to make my life easier so I can get the inspections and stuff done all at the same place. I guess I just feel like if we're getting our wedding rings "together" they should be bought together? Idk that's probably a stupid reason though lol.

I will be getting my ring at the same place FH got my e-ring because he designed it himself so we will be doing the same with my wedding ring. I will probably end up getting his ring at the same place as well, but only if he loves a ring there. If not, we will go somewhere else (he’s SOOpicky)!

Yes! So I go to Diamonds Direct and they do it for free. They have a quick clean option that just polishes the ring up and takes like 5 minutes, but the "dipped" option takes like an hour. So I just drop my ring off then go next door to eat or something and I'm being 100% serious that it looks like an absolutely brand spanking new ring when they're done. I cleaned mine for my engagement photos last year and remember not wanting to wear it for the rest of the day until the photos because I forgot how perfect my ring can look.

Honestly it probably would be more convenient, but is it worth it to spend the extra money? Maybe you can go to your store and ask if they have any budget rings! As long as they're gold and not like sterling silver lol it shouldn't matter.

Yeah exactly. I’ll have to check, and to see how much more expensive it is. And wait for a sale lol

Diamonds direct is so great! (my cousin works there and i wish FH would have gotten her help and discounts but there's a reason he picked Kay - another story) But yeah! I will have to see if KAY does in house cleanings and the "dipping" !

My husband bought my engagement ring from a local store, and we bought our wedding bands from James Allen. My e-ring is very delicate with a 1mm band (I like dainty jewelry and gave my H that as a guideline for e-ring shopping), so I wanted a sturdy but not too big wedding band. I shopped around for a store that I knew I could easily find plain 14k yellow gold bands for the two of us, and I felt that James Allen had reasonable prices for what I was looking for. My 2mm band and my H’s cost less than $350 total, and my plain band pairs really well with the e-ring. There is no color difference, and the difference in band widths is barely noticeable. I just saw that James Allen has a sale!

My ering is from Zales. We're getting our bands from them as well. We want matching bands that look similar to my ering.

My e-ring is from an independent designer based out of San Diego. My wedding band is from Kay because I randomly stopped in to see if they had anything to fit my oddly shaped e-ring and happened to find something that fit perfectly and was shockingly affordable. Bought it on the spot. FH's ring is from Etsy. Our rings don't match at all, but that works for us.

When I got the warranty on the wedding band, they said I could bring my e-ring in with it for the every 6 month check up/cleaning, but I don't think I will. I think they send them away for cleanings and I've heard so many horror stories that I just don't trust them with a ring that wasn't purchased through them. If they lose it, it's just straight up gone. For peace of mind, I'm totally OK with taking my e-ring to a trusted local jeweler if I need it cleaned/repaired.

It might be called something different in the States but the name of the process used by my jeweller in Australia is rhodium plating.

To respond to the OP, I'm getting my wedding ring made by the same jeweller that did my custom engagement ring. Mostly because finding what I want and not going down the custom route would be difficult or impossible. I enjoyed working with Jason immensely through the first process, his prices were very competitive against big box jewellers and I prefer to give local businesses my money. Fortunately we wildly over-budgeted what the engagement ring would cost and it turned out that amount would include wedding rings for us both and change.

I've already planned to take my engagement ring to him 2wks before the wedding to get it re-plated so both rings will look shiny and new on the day.
