Wedding Rings for First Look and Before Ceremony Pictures?

Miranda, on May 15, 2019 at 4:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My fiance and I will be doing a first look and knocking out most of our pictures and bridal party pictures before the ceremony. If you have done this, did you wear your engagement ring or what did you do? I feel weird taking the pictures without them but am not sure what is normal I guess.

I don’t know what is normal or what others have done, but we’re also doing a first look and our plan is to have our rings on for the pictures and then giving them to the officiant for the ceremony. I didn’t like the idea of looking back at our pictures and not seeing our rings on.

Wear your engagement ring! Just make sure to switch it to your other hand before the ceremony so your ring finger is clear for your wedding ring! Then after the ceremony put it back. Your wedding band should be closest to your palm anyway. Make sure your Best Man or MOH has the wedding rings in case your photographer wants some detail shots.

I’ll be wearing my engagement ring the whole day, and we are both wearing our wedding bands for our after-first-look photos since we’ll be taking the majority of our photos at that time. We definitely want them to be in our couple photos and wedding party photos. The only pictures we’re taking after the ceremony are the family portraits.

They needed all the rings and jewelry for the getting ready photos and then took pics/video as I put them on. I wore only my engagement ring and then before the ceremony (which we almost forgot them!!!!) so remember them when you go to venue if you’re taking pics elsewhere....and I switched my engagement ring to my right hand while getting married and then switched it to my left after the ceremony!

I wore my engagement ring on my right hand for the first looks. (Honestly, no one is looking at your ring in those pics - it's all about the emotion lol). I believe I still had it on my right hand for the formal bridal party photos as well. It was fine for us because we still did some formal photos during the cocktail hour (an hour before the cocktail hour and taking up maybe 20 minutes of the actual cocktail hour) so we had our rings for those.

Hey Miranda!! Have you made a decision as to what you will do for your photos before your ceremony?

We’re doing first look beforehand as well and I’ll wear my engagement ring since it’s something I’ve been wearing everyday for the past year. I’m still debating if I’ll have him wear his ring or not. My sister did the same thing at her wedding 10 years ago and he didn’t wear his ring in the pre-wedding photos and she wore his. Leaning towards doing the same thing.
