Wedding Registry - Where to register?

Esme, on March 22, 2021 at 3:17 PM Posted in Registry 0 17
Hi everyone. I am having difficulties in choosing where I would like to have my wedding registry and would like your help! I want to stick to maybe no more than 2 places. Where have you registered? It would also be helpful if you recently got married to know what you realized was beneficial or needed. Thanks!!

Bed Bath and Beyond and Target are the most popular and accessible.

Bed Bath and Beyond's website has a registry list to get you started. Upgrade older linens/kitchenware, register for fun stuff you want.

We did 3, but two for physical stuff. We went with Amazon and Macy's. Amazon you can literally add ANYTHING, which was good for us because we already own a home together and have lived together for 5 years, so we don't necessarily need a lot, but we are upgrading some of our things.

Our third registry is a honeymoon registry, we are going to Disney and they have a website where people can give money towards certain things.

We did BBB, Wayfair, and Amazon. BBB just sent an email extending registry returns because of Covid, so that was nice. Amazon is great when it comes to any gift exchanges or returns you may have, plus, as mentioned, you can add so many things! We got our Christmas tree and power washer from our registry. Wayfair is good, too, because of a guest chooses to ship to you, you have the option to convert the gift to credit. Also, you can wait to ship so you don’t get a box each day. I would recommend at least one “in store” option in case you have older guests. We have gotten most of our gifts from Amazon though. Hope this helps!

I personally would be very careful with Amazon because they have many 3rd party sellers that are hit or miss rather than products sold by the company itself.

We used Blueprint because we liked how you can add anything from any website you want (Zola is another good option for this). One of the best parts about Blueprint was that if we waited until after the wedding to redeem our cash gifts from our honeymoon fund, Blueprint didn't take a cut and we got 100% of the funds.

I used Amazon and Crate & Barrel. We physically went into Crate & Barrel to register (prior to COVID) and registered for most of our household upgrades (plates, bowls, towels, sheets) and gadgets (immersion blender, panini press, spiralizer). Amazon was used for all the rest (vacuum, fireproof safe, luggage set, etc). I did have to go through and add/remove items from our Amazon registry every few months as items were no longer sold by third party sellers. I liked having a brick and mortar store to shop from and an online option that encompassed all that we needed. Amazon's registry completion discount is only good for Amazon fulfilled items, however, so we didn't save as much as we had hoped to save when we finished that registry after we got married.

In terms of what you need to register for, think of the items that you'd use. If you and your FS aren't much in the way of chefs, don't register for a lot of kitchen ware that will hardly get used. Definitely upgrade anything that could use it (my bowls and plates were from college/my first years on my own, so it was nice to register for matching dining sets). Don't register for something if you don't find yourself wishing you had it. We had a long engagement (26 months after it was all said and done) so I kept a list in my phone of items to put on the registry as it came up. Fairly difficult, because I'm the kind of person who will just buy it for myself if I need it, but those items that could wait I added to the list. That way, most of the things we registered for were items that would actually have use in our home.

We're doing Amazon, Target, and BBB. Our wedding is in a month, but we've already had a few gifts from our Target registry show up at our apartment. Somehow the people who sent those sent EXACTLY what we needed for right now!

We used Amazon and Target, so people can go to a store to purchase if they want!

Also Amazon gives you a discount on all the remaining items that weren't purchased in your registry and I THINK Target does the same thing

We're doing Crate & Barrel mostly for dinnerware and Bed Bath and Beyond for everything else. I really liked a specific pattern for dishes and bowls from C&B and a few other random items and BBB always has those 20% off coupons.
