Wedding registry questions

Aleana, on February 22, 2020 at 12:44 PM Posted in Registry 1 13
Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are getting married this November and are curious where is the best place to make a wedding registry and what are some must-have things we should add to it? Thanks for any help! ❤️

The most popular ones I would say are Bed Bath and Beyond, Target & Crate & Barrel! What you register for will depend on of you're living together yet or if you still need everything for your house.

Examples: Utensils, Drinkware, Pot & Pans, sheets, comforter, vacuum, ect.

We went window shopping before choosing a store, and ended up with the places we found that had the most stuff we wanted. Specifically , we knew we wanted a new set of dishware , so we chose our ‘main’ store when we found the dishes we liked the most (at Macy’s). Found silverware we loved at Bed Bath & Beyond. Everything else we wanted could basically come from anywhere so we went with those stores and if an item was available from both, we registered for it at the store where it was cheapest.

No “must haves”, only what’s you want. Look at your home and kitchen and see if there’s anything you’ve been meaning to get (you’ve been curious about Sous vide but haven’t tried yet) or older items that you’d like to refresh (like the all the random non matching cutlery, perhaps you’d like nice new knives/forks, etc).

Personally, the only item on our registry is give what you want to our Honeymoon Fund. For us and a lot of couples who’ve lived together before getting engaged, there’s nothing we really NEED. Sure I’d love to upgrade my blender to a $450 Vitamix instead!! But mine 200ish one is still in great condition and I’d feel kind of weird asking my guests to buy me expensive things. At this point in my life, if I want something I will just buy it myself. And since I have very expensive taste where kitchen tools are concerned, I feel better if people didn’t know how much I spend on those things and I wouldn’t ask them to buy it for me. If I did put physical things in the registry, I’d look at what items I’d want to upgrade because they’re old or just average. Knives? Whetstones for sharpening? Cutting board? Spice mills? A wider rondeau or braiser? A stovetop pressure cooker? Baking gear? Decorative vases? Nicer wine glasses? Carafes? Luggage to replace your old carry on? Firmer pillows to replace old mushy ones? As long as it’s for your home, not a personal item, it’s fine.

I suggest Zola. You can easily combine things from multiple stores. When I helped a friend with hers, we were able to add items just by using the URL so even if the website didn’t have a registry function, you can still add it to Zola. They give you the option to direct guest to the website or to just take the cash equivalent and transfer your bank the money. Amazon, I’m sure is very comprehensive as well.

We did Macy’s, Amazon and Pottery Barn. Bed Bath & Beyond is a great choice as well.

We’re older and already lived together. We did Honeyfund, Macy’s, & Bed Bath Beyond. Upgraded kitchen cookware, new towels, bedding. Still love using our everyday place settings!

We chose Crate & Barrel and BB&B. We added bar ware, entertaining serveware, and picture frames for the wedding pictures. There’s also personalized items, crystal candle sticks for the traditional guests, and fun things like an espresso machine. If we get a gift, great! If not, we’ll choose what we’d like at the end and purchase with our completion discount.

We’re both widowed so while we both have stuff, we wanted some new things to use in our homes.

It's a super easy and awesome app/website that you receive monetary gifts from your guests to help you pay for the costs of your honeymoon, or anything else you may be saving for. They can give you money towards dinner, activities, plane ticket, or just money to help pay for the honeymoon.

We did Amazon & Target, but easily could have skipped Target. Everyone bought from Amazon. We had a small registry of kitchen upgrades, sheets, towels and such.
