Wedding Ready

Sasha, on August 6, 2019 at 6:45 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 17
Hello,

I need some help. I work a desk job Monday-Friday. It takes me an hour to get back to my side of town and to get to work so almost my whole day is spent. Anyway I need help/advice/tips to lose weight and get “wedding ready”. It is really hard for me to get motivated as
I sit all day in front of a computer for work so getting modified to workout is like pulling teeth.

Wedding isn’t until the end of April but I bet you all know how fast time gets away from you with all that goes into preparation. So any advice? Anything from diet pills to at home workouts to dieting/fasting. I can’t really afford memberships as all my money goes to bills or saving for the big day.

Obviously everyone wants to look good on their special day. Any input I will appreciate. Thank you in advance!

Can you do something during your lunch break ? For me I used to go to fitness classes during because I felt like I was already up and active vs when I try to workout after I come home where I'm tired from the long day

Calculate your total daily energy expenditure (there are calculators online) and eat less calories than that.

If you can afford diet pills, you can afford a $10 gym membership. Burn more calories than you eat, that’s it. Losing weight doesn’t have to be complicated. Gimmicks like fasting and diet pills are not only unhealthy, but you’ll gain the weight right back and then some.

I didn’t realize you’ll gain it back and more.

Most gyms it my area, cheapest are about 80 a month and that’s a little steep for the moment

Sometimes I feel as though there aren't enough hours in the day to get everything I want/need to get done. So, what I have started doing is limiting my calorie intake and then gradually work in some bodyweight exercises at night. I used to be very active but fell off the wagon.

Diet pills and fad diets might work short term, but they are not the long term solution. You need to consume less/burn more calories than you consume. There are free calculators that can help you determine how many calories you burn and you can calculate what you need to change.

    Good luck!

I didn't lose a ton of weight for my wedding, but the few pounds I did drop were really just due to calorie counting. PPs are right in that the most foolproof and healthiest way to do it is simply just to focus on eating fewer calories than you're burning. There are tons of apps that you can use as food logs that will calculate your ideal calorie range for the amount of weight you want to lose. I used Lose It and thought it was good, and have also heard My Fitness Pal is good. Keeping track of what you're eating will help you notice patterns and help you be more informed about food choices. Remember most importantly that you will be a stunning bride at any weight!

Workout in the morning. I suggest yoga (total body). A diet by definition is simply what you eat not a temporary fix. I suggest paleo for maintenance with bouts of keto for faster weight loss. I used to be a personal trainer for reference. Discipline is a habit.

Eating healthier can definitely help. Could you run in place at home while listening to music? That's what I like to do when I can't make it to the gym somedays

There was a workout program that I did once where part of it was doing “10 of somethings” where you do 10 jumping jacks, push ups, squats etc. while waiting for an elevator, waiting for your food to heat up, etc which takes less than a minute at a time but the idea was that throughout the day you have gotten in several sets of exercises. It can help you burn some extra calories without having to carve out a large chunk of time. If you could pair that with modifying your diet and taking even a short walk each day it can be a cost effective and time effective strategy. Hope this helps!

Weight loss is 90% what you put on your fork. Track everything you put in your mouth using an app like MyFitnessPal (yes, including alcohol!) Once you’ve got an idea of where you’re consuming your calories, you’ll have an idea on where to better cut. Prep your meals ahead of time so it’s easier to stick with your healthy eating. And remember, your diet is simply what you eat. Crash and fad dieting will only bring the weight back when you go back to your normal way of eating. Creating healthy habits and sticking with them for the long haul will help you keep weight off even after the wedding.

I also work 9-5 with a one hour commute both ways. I still try to go to the gym 4 days a week because it makes me feel good. Usually I go 3x during the week from 6-7 and one day on the weekend. I live in a HCOL area and you can find gyms that are $10 a month. I go to the YMCA and it's $40. Your health is very important, so maybe look at it as an investment in yourself, mentally and physically. If you really can't find a gym that costs less than $80 a month, then consider other forms of exercise. I will take long walks during my lunch break, use youtube to find fun work out videos, or use class pass to find some fun classes in the area. Exercise alone will not really lead to much weight loss, but it can make you quite a bit healthier! I didn't workout for years, so I know there are always barriers for everyone to get moving, but you can make it work.

I sit all day as well, so the other ladies and I walk around the warehouse at 11am and then we wlk again at 3pm. Along with that I watch what I eat and I drink more water. Once I get home I do the 17 minute standing abs workout with my weights.

Well, the most important part of weight loss is without a doubt your diet. You can work out for hours a day, but if your diet isn't good you won't lose any weight. The most efficient diet is called CICO, which means calories in, calories out. It's extremely simple because all you need to do is eat fewer calories than you burn in a day. You can use a TDEE calculator to calculate your total daily energy expenditure, which is how many calories your body burns in a day based on your vitals and activity level. As long as you eat around 20% less than that number, you will lose weight. Along with a CICO diet, eat protein-rich foods and stay away from carbs when possible: https://www.openfit.com/eat-way-great-abs-7-tips
