Wedding PTO? How much are...

LavenderJoy, on November 21, 2013 at 6:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 53

How PTO (paid time off) are you taking for your wedding?

I''m getting married on a Saturday and plan to take the Thursday before the wedding off, the entire following week and go back to work the following Tuesday or Wednesday. I dont work weekends so I plan to take 9-10 works days off.

I can only take off 1, MAYBE 2 days. I'm a teacher and it just so happens that the day before my wedding day is the last day of the grading period - and the day before Spring Break. That said, I get a whole week off after my wedding.

I'm a teacher, so I planned my wedding for the weekend following the last day of school so I don't have to worry about taking time off =)

I am also a teacher and I'm getting married after school ends for the summer, so technically I am taking no PTO ( we do not get any during the school year), but except for a few workshop days, I have all summer off.

@Erica , @Jae: I always thought it was awesome how teachers get the summers off! :-)

This did just raise a question in my mind though, My son will be starting 2nd grade next August and my daughter half-day kindergrten (my school district doesnt do full day kindergarten but other districts around me do) , I'm torn on whether or not I want to send my babies to grandmas while we are on our honeymoon or have a local family member keep them so they take them to school.

7 days annual, 1 holiday and Saturday and Sunday. 10 days total. I will probably take a day the week before the wedding to get the license and do other errands.

None! I'm a teacher and we're getting married in the summer (FH is a teacher too). We loved the idea that we'd never have to work on our anniversary.

@Future.Mrs.Gulotta..if you can, you definitely want to have a local family member keep the kids. They don't need to miss that many days of school..it's amazing how quickly kids can fall behind.

I am taking the day before my wedding off, which is a Friday. Then we are leaving Sunday to go on our honeymoon. BUT, Monday-Wednesday we have off because of Mardi Gras, so I will only need to take off that Thursday and Friday. That's why we chose the date we did, because we would both have days off and wouldn't have to use our days.

@Futuremrs.Gulotta I definitely agree with K'lyssa. As a kindergarten teacher, I have seen how missing a whole week of school especially right in the beginning can set them behind.

I am very fortunate with my job because we can mix PTO and shift exchanges . So i can just switch with other people and have them work for me and i have to work for them within 60 days (before or after) so im shooting for 3 solid weeks off. Might as well try right?!

Almost two weeks. We have a super chill office. My wedding is on a Friday so my last day before will be Monday and then I am taking the entire following week off.

Not sure yet b/c it's so far away... in 2015 I will have 5 weeks of vacation at work and I can carry 40 hours over from 2014 to 2015 so I will have about 6 weeks (a little under 6 wks) for 2015 so we will have to see what I need and when I need it during the year of my wedding!

I'm going to take the week before and most of the week after off. We're gonna go on a 2-3 night mini honeymoon the Monday after our wedding, then do our real honeymoon about 4 months later.

I'll be taking like 2 weeks off but probably only get pay for 8 days or so. I have the time but might not want to use all of it up at once.

FH is a teacher so no taking time off for him, which is the entire reason for the wedding date.

I'm not sure. My FILs are planning our honeymoon as a gift: all I know is that it's all inclusive and we'll need passports (well, FH does, I have one). I'm taking a couple days before the wedding and the length of the honeymoon so.....7-8 business days?

I'm not sure yet. My work is very flexible. I'm taking the thursday & friday before off maybe the Monday after. But when the time come if I feel I need more time I'll be able to take it no problems. It helps that my boss is one of my BMs

I am taking 2 weeks from both jobs. I figured its the only time I will get 2 weeks off without resistance.
