Wedding Programs

Sylvia, on June 15, 2019 at 1:25 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 22
Hi Ladies - I met with my wedding planner (Entrusted Moments) and the planner asked me what I planned to do for wedding programs. I had a confused look on my face. Wedding programs? Oops!

What did you do for wedding programs? It's not something I budgeted for AND I don't want to spend a lot of money on them.

So my fellow DIYers...... Any Ideas and pics you have would be GREATLY appreciated!

I'm just not having them. We are having a 30 minute ceremony. None of the weddings I've been to in the last few years have had them. Unless you are having a long, intricate ceremony or incorporating some traditions that may be unfamiliar to your guests, they can usually follow along with the basic wedding routine. I just kind of see it as an extra, unnecessary expense. I also see favors that way to so 🤷‍♀️.

I’m with Hannah on this one! We aren’t doing ceremony programs either.

Wow! No program?! I honestly would prefer not to print things unnecessarily.

My service is primarily in Greek and most people aren’t familiar with the service so we are making little booklets of the service for each attendant. My FMIL is helping and we are DIYing it with lots of cardstock and an industrial printer!

I dont really want programs. If anything I might just have one program at the bar & maybe the entrance but I dont care to have them on the tables.

The only time I ever found a program useful was when they made them into fans for a hot outdoor wedding. In general, they will just end up in the trash so why bother?

I’m on the fence about what to do as well because I’m a sentimental person and I keep stuff like that, however most don’t. So if you hadn’t planned on any but still would like to keep guest in the loop about order of service and things you could do something like the picture to place in the entrance of your ceremony venue

I'm skipping them. I usually just throw them in my vehicle on the way to the reception and they get trashed at the gas station the next time I fill up.
So I don't really see them as a necessary cost.

You don’t need wedding programs if you don’t want them.

We aren’t having them. I didn’t want to waste money that I could use elsewhere on something that 95% of people would just toss in the trash.

Programs are useful if you’re having a long or very specific ceremony with elements that many people are not familiar with (mixed religions, cultures etc.). And also if you have a very specific & involved reception timeline you have to make sure is followed. For majority of weddings programs are not a necessity.
As pp suggested, you can always make one big board/easel with the entire program that will be displayed at ceremony/reception site for anybody interested to see.
If you decide you really want programs, you can easily make them yourself. I’d use same design as your invite & just edit text in Photoshop, then print them at home on nice card stock that you can get on Amazon (not too heavy weight). This would cost you $10-$30 max.

We arent having them. They are such a waste of money, barely anyone will look at them and they will just get thrown in the trash after.
Id say dont do them, save the money and put that money elsewhere

We skipped programs. It was a short ceremony and it was just an unnecessary expense on my mind.

I'm skipping them. Like many people said you really only need them if you're doing a long, specific or cultural ceremony your guests might not be familiar with. Most people have an idea how a wedding goes and will be fine without.
I do like the one big sign at the entrance having more like schedule. You can do it with a photo frame and expo marker (or sharpie) and get a large stand or easile to prop it up if you feel the need for one. Most people do throw them out.
