Wedding Programs

I was curious on your opinions are on wedding programs and if you are doing them, or if you did do them. My FH doesn't care if we have them or not. If we do them, we're just going to make them ourselves instead of buying them because we would want to make them funny and we aren't traditional. Our ceremony is going to be pretty quick and we are going to go straight into the reception afterwards, with no cocktail hour, because we are going to take a majority of our photos before the ceremony after our first look with our bridal party. We will only be taking 10-20 minutes after the ceremony to get pictures with our aunts, uncles and grandparents. I figure during that time our guests will be finding their seats in the reception ballroom because we are having assigned seating.

Do you think I should do programs even though our ceremony will be quick and then we will get right into the reception? Or, do you think I'm okay with skipping the wedding programs?

I don't find programs necessary unless you're having a religious ceremony where most of your guests won't understand what's happening.

We had programs because I wanted them. Ours were infographic ones that I bought through Etsy and had printed at Office Depot. I liked that they included a lot of information and gave something for the guests to look at while they waited.

I think you would be fine skipping programs for the type of ceremony you are having. Especially if you are looking for places to cut costs. Im personally having programs but we are having a full catholic mass and most guests arent catholic so will need a program to know what to do and when

I would skip them. People generally know what to expect unless you have a long or super religious ceremony when there might be things they might not understand. If you want to give credit to your officiant/bridal party, you can make a sign that lists their names. I would be mad that I made and paid for programs that people look at for 5 seconds and then threw away.

A lot of the programs end up left on the seats after the ceremony.

Most of them get left behind. People know what to expect at a wedding so I would skip them.

I had them for my first wedding and really put a lot of thought and effort into making them pretty and functional. I made 100 and had dozens left over. Then found a ton more on the floor of the church and reception venue. I’m getting remarried in may and will not even think twice about it.... skip them!

They aren't necessary for sure. We did them (I like seeing them at weddings so I knew I wanted to do them). I designed them on Zazzle then ordered them & folded them at home. It mentioned our bridesmaids & groomsmen names, parent's names, and grandparent's names (grandparents have all passed so they were in a "guests in heaven" section). Then it had some fun facts about our first date, first kiss, engagement, etc. We also included a section with all the states our guests had traveled from.

Programs are pretty much optional! If your ceremony is going to be quick feel free to skip them

Thank you! I'm happy we did. We didn't have a super long ceremony but it was very personal and we did a ton of personal touches (menus, ceremony programs, welcome bags with welcome pamphlets, hand-made favors, etc.).

They're not necessary BUT I do think they're a good idea if 1) bilingual 2) long ceremony 3) outdoor ceremony

This is super cute, I have the same idea. My guests also come from out of the country.
