Wedding Programs? Do or No Do?

So, wedding plans are coming together, and we're just about done! Except for one thing;

Wedding programs.

I kinda wanted to do wedding programs so guests could know the order of the ceremony, who is who, and it makes for a great keepsake (at-least for us and the parents/grandparents). At the same time, my mom just thinks I should skip out on it; we don't have enough money/time to buy any fancy ones. So I am thinking, if it is possible to find a simple online template, I can put one together (I know how, and I enjoy putting together things like this.)

Another option is to just not do it. Would it really be a big deal to skip out on wedding programs? Should I go ahead and just make some myself?

    We're going to do a table with collage picture frames introducing the bridal party, and one simple frame in the middle with any information that would go on the program. We're putting it right as you walk into the ceremony space, so those who want to know can still be informed without us wasting the time, effort and money that goes into programs that just get thrown out! Found the idea on pinterest!

    Seems like a waste of paper and money to me, but it's your wedding.

    Skip it. No one needs them. Do a blackboard.

    I wanted to skip them, but FH insisted so now I've designed Daily Prophet themed ones. It helps since we're having a Catholic ceremony and most of my guests are not Catholic.

    I did them, but they are unnecessary.

    I think I'm skipping them, I don't think they're so important. The only good thing about them, is so everyone knows exactly where the reception is.

    I'm just making them myself in word (downloading pretty fonts) and am having them printed at Staples

    Programs are nice, but they do get wasted. We have a wedding website we built from scratch and are planning to put the program on it. We are going to print off a QR code that guests can scan on their phones and will be directed to the online program! It's a cheap way to do it, of course older guests probably won't be able to figure it out....

    I planned on skipping them, but FH feels strongly to have them. He wants to be able to honor deceased fam members with a shout out in programs. So I am all for proofing whatever he comes up with!

    I am just going to out all the information in a frame for all to see when they walk in.

    Skip them. As you note, few people will keep them, so mostly it's a waste of paper and money.
