Wedding plans have changed

Susan, on February 5, 2018 at 8:55 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
I was originally going to get married on 11/23/18 but FH and I have decided to elope and get married in Las Vegas on 5/3/18. My question is how do I let the people we sent the Save the dates to. I have let my family know. Can I post it on social media or do I have to tell everyone individually?

No to social media. Tell your family and close friends personally. I would send an announcement similar to a STD to others.

Tell them individually. You could send them something in the mail again. Don't do social media, that will just cause extra drama and questions.

I have received “unsave” the date cards when plans have changed. Usually a post card that said plans have changed and we can free up the date, or something similar. I don’t think I’d post on social media, either mail, phone call, or even email would
    probably be best.

This is an example of an elopement announcement and you could add: previous wedding plans on X date have been cancelled

Talk to them individually. Do not post on social media.

Wedding announcements are perfect for this.

I believe that you would send these out After you have eloped.

Please tell your guests NOW. Do not wait until after you eloped. People could be arranging for time off work or getting flights since you sent out save the dates. You owe it to them to call every person individually and let them know. No social media post, no announcement in the mail. Call them and tell them you canceled your plans and they should not plan to come to your wedding.

Tell each individually. Send something to let them know not to save that date.

You need to tell them now, waiting until May isn’t ok. People have set the date aside and are planning to attend, you should free up their schedulesz

I like the elopment/wedding announcement idea and adding that they can free up the date because the other events are cancelled.
