Wedding Planning Blues

Katie, on January 24, 2020 at 2:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hi Guys!

My name is Katie. I've been Engaged for over a year now. I don't work. My Fiance and Dad are paying for the Wedding. They both agree and think I should focus on my health (Unmedicated or Treated BPD, PTSD, IBS, and other things) and planning the Wedding. It's just getting a little hard because I don't really have a lot of support emotionally. I mean normally you share this time planning with your mother and aunts and friends. My mother is dead, my aunts hate me, and my friends are always busy. I'm mostly just really tired of the "elopement jokes" and the "run off to Vegas" jokes.

Sending lots of virtual hugs your way. I sometimes feel the same way - my family are all out of town, so its hard to get them involved sometimes. You can always post here! The ladies on here are amazing and will definitely squeal with delight about your big day. And offer advice too if you need it.

I'm very sorry for your situation and I'm sending tons of positive vibes your way. I understand how you feel because it's rough when your mom isn't there to share and those happy moments with you and it is unfortunate that you don't have a close relationship with some family members and I'm right there with you. I think that maybe something that can make you happy is to have just a little informal get-together to celebrate your upcoming day. I don't know if you have a bachelorette party already planned but maybe just have your girls over one evening for just some wine and cheese and just relax.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. I work part time, so I’m not in the same boat exactly, but I dang have any friends (my epilepsy affects my memory so it’s hard to meet new people).

This website really helps me feel supported. We are here to give opinions if you’re unsure about something and to tell you how much we like your dress/flowers/invites/etc. I really lean on the people on this site and it’s helped my mental health so much. Maybe it will help you too?

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. It's just really hard because I want my family to be happy for me. I don't want a court room wedding because I've given up on every dream I've ever had and I refuse to give up my dream wedding.

Share here! My hubby & I planned our wedding ourselves. Didn’t share the details with anyone and it was fine. 😊
