Hello beautiful brides, so I have a few questions, I can’t seem to decide if I want or not a wedding planner, here are the reason. My fiancé and I don’t want to over pass our wedding budget, wedding planner might be necessary but they are a bit expensive, a second reason is we are buying a house before the wedding, so far we have stayed in our budget. I done majority of the work. Booked ceremony and reception location, booked photographer and videographer, i booked hair stylist and makeup artist, DJ, got my engagement photos done, already have a my save the date magnets. Do I need a planner for further things or it’ is not necessary since I done almost everything?

If your looking for a day of coordinator in NJ try details made simple or just dreams. Both can be found on IG.

I didnt end end up going with either of them but they both were super sweet and helpful. Personally for our wedding we didn’t want to spend the extra money for the day of since we get a coordinator with our venue, i am doing our centerpiece and bouquets, and besides that there really isn’t too much else to setup.

Great! I will definitely look them up on IG, wow that is amazing that you found a venue that is giving you a coordinator, I wish we would’ve looked out there for more option but my fiancé and I love everything about our venue especially the price and right away booked. Thank you for your information

Unnecessary. Any organized person with time to do it, can plan the usual wedding. You have done the major things, so keep going.

I would never plan this wedding without my planner. The things that she has found in contracts with vendors were astonishing. Extended light bill fees, what they were and were not doing, and just the overall managing of vendors themselves. My caterer swore up and down she sent me the contract. Was going back and for with my planner until finally she realized that it was the wrong Renee and blamed it on baby brain. Had it been me without a planner she could have dropped me, canceled the venue/catering service or done whatever. But because she had a relationship with my planner they were able to talk things out calmly. I didn’t know about any of this until my planner told me two days ago. Been going on for a month now. I couldn’t imagine going back and forth with her for 30 days while I work and coach volleyball and soccer. Plus the discounts planners have are amazing. Especially for things like invitations, save the dates, bakers etc. I’ve probably saved more having a planner. She has also saved me time. My fiancé and I just say yes or no and we are on to the next.

Ooh okay wow that’s a crazy experience you went through, I know I will need one only because I don’t have anyone to make sure everything is running smooth the day of the wedding

Honestly go for a day of coordinator. I went to a wedding yesterday for who I think is the most organized person I’ve ever met, but the wedding was a mess because she didn’t have a coordinator. My fiancé was a groomsman and he said no one told them what to do for the ceremony, no one to direct people for dinner or cake. We didn’t even know there was a cake or anything else.

We were not going to hire a coordinator at first, we did most of the planning and hiring but a month before the wedding we decided to hire a coordinator and it was the best decision we had made!! I can not tell you how much stress she took off of us and we would have been lost without her!! I say get a coordinator, even if you go over your budget a little bit they will be worth it!!! Make sure you get one who knows what they are doing though!!

Check to see if your venue offers one. Ours does and it’s nice because that’s all they do and they know everything front and back.

If a couple of thousand for planning the whole wedding was too much for your budget, then a day coordinator who charges a minimum of $**** , the lowest rate for all day and evening in our relatively lower price area, will be too much. A lot to pay , for you to spend hours laying out all your plans and discussing details, for them to carry out in one day. If no one in your family is likely to manage well on wedding day, you may want to look for a gifted amateur. Someone who has been involved in many weddings or other functions, who is well mannered and tactful with guests and vendors alike, and is used to managing events. My youngest sister wanted me to do it, until I gave birth 6 weeks early. People gave her recommendations. Any of 3 looked good. She chose a woman who runs a seasonal In with a small restaurant, closed between ski season and May summer season. She said 300 for meeting with bride, and a 12 hour day. $400 7 am to 1 am, which was what was best. She dealt with a damaged tent the rental crew had delivered then could not set up, getting a new one from the company within 2 hours. Received and directed all delivery people, had words with a catering manager who was not promptly getting cold foods into refrigeration, and whose staff had long hair but had not out on head coverings, guest whose car broke down in the nannie part of the quarter mile driveway, all the little nightmares. She is not a weddings person. But to manage a restaurant and in, even only 80 customers an average meal, and 20 rooms, she had seen everything and could think on her feet. My next door neighbor called another of my sister's referrals for her daughter's upcoming wedding. She ran a catering service til arthritis set in. Not a pastries cook at a bakery, but all her managerial skills clearly still there. $300 plus I know they gave her a huge tip. In this rural area, where pro planners are too costly for most people, office managers, church choir directors, store and restaurant managers who have retired, or are home with small children, often have done multiple weddings before applying the managerial skills of their occupations. Look around. Until 15-20 years ago, it was extremely rare for anyone not rich, royal, or a celebrity, to use a wedding planner or day coordinator. Anyone with managerial skills can do it. So if you find pro planners too expensive, and you have planned well, look for part timers and amateurs who charge a more reasonable rate. A couple of churches in town ( not mine) have a service circle if such people, who will do " day direction and organization" for weddings, family reunions, large anniversary parties. They do ones for anybody, not just church members, and donate their $300-$400 charge for one or two people together ( same low fee) to Church good works, mortgage, day care center scholarships. In this cluster of towns, 1 Lutheran church, 2 Congregational, one Roman Catholic and a Unitarian Universalist church have service committees. So they cannot be a rare thing elsewhere.

Most "day of" coordinators jump in about a month before. Just look at their packages very carefully to see when they actually start doing anything.
I have my venue booked, and I got a partial service planner and DJ as a package. Super happy I did that. Still need to figure out the other vendors. Since you already have all your major vendors, a DOC is prob all you need

I am on the same boat, house included.
I would say to talk to your family and see what needs to be done on the day of the wedding. If there is more to he done than a family member can do, then get a planner for the day of.

Yes girl. I’m realizing it’s not just about the day of. It’s the whole process. I have to Admit that the majority of things I told my planner I wanted I’m 1000% sure I could have done. She definitely knew the ins and out. Think about it. Maybe a month of coordinator to get all your plans and ideas running smoothly.
