Who all has a wedding planner and who all is just doing it themselves? I don’t think I want a wedding planner but I am just curious

We're doing it ourselves, but our venue does help with day of coordinating so we won't have to worry about much. I also have family who will step in & help organize when needed.

I was initially going to just do a DOC, but the woman I found had such affordable packages I upgraded to full planning. It for sure took the weight off my shoulders and I feel more relaxed. I'll end up saving money on decorations as well because she has a large inventory of items I can utilize.

I'm still making all the decisions and planning to do some DIY (mainly flowers), but she will pull it all together, make sure I didn't forget anything, do all the setup and cleanup, deal with vendors, and coordinate the day of as well.

I feel excited that I can just enjoy the weekend and not have to manage everything. Smiley smile

I’m doing the planning myself but will have a day-of coordinator so that I can relax and just enjoy our day without having to worry about when vendors show up or putting the gifts away.

I have done mine by myself and honestly it has been fairly easy. We had a year to plan! It was easy until this pandemic hit. I have had to change my reception site twice now. I just got a phone call today saying that i can not use their venue, i am a month and a half out from the wedding and now scrambling what i am going to do. I would say in normal circumstances this would have been fairly easy. the one advice i will give is GET A DAY OF CORDINAtOR! I ended up getting one at the last second because there are tons of little details i would not be able to control on the actual day

Having a month of planner as most of the planning I am able to research but I want the last few weeks to have a professional take over and make sure everything i didn't think about is taken care of.

Our venue has a coordinator who will also be our day of coordinator. She will facilitate all of the set up and tear down, handle vendors, and even be present at our rehearsal to ensure everything goes smoothly.
I do think that a DOC is important. You cannot handle all of the set up and tear down on your own, not to mention all of the other little details. You can have family members do all of that, but it’s a big ask, they aren’t professionals, and you probably don’t want them “working” your wedding day instead of just enjoying it.

I hired someone on a hybrid model. Minimal design help. A lot of help on execution. Couldn't be anymore glad. I wouldn't want to be setting up place cards, bringing things from one side of our resort to the other, helping with clean up at the end of the night. I was on the fence at the beginning but definitely the best money I've spent.

Get a planner. I am doing it all myself and it is a nightmare. I will let you know that regardless, of the choice you make, this process while exciting, will likely test your relationship. This is both good and hella stressful.

We are planning it ourselves. I couldn't justify spending the money they want for it. I know they do a great service for the bride and groom but I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much for someone else to plan our big day.

I did not have a wedding planner. I don't find it necessary, especially with all the resources available. I'm very hands on and prefer to be in control of everything. We also didn't have a lot of vendors, so I imagine someone who's having a huge blowout wedding would find it helpful to have a planner keep track of everything. However, I do hope to be able to afford a day-of coordinator.
