My fiance and I are getting married in Buffalo and he thinks that we should look on craigslist for a photographer (he thinks ANYONE w/ an expensive camera is a photographer )...We talked to our friends who just got married in June and they paid around $3000 (in DC) for the full day, that's too...

So how much is everyone paying for their wedding photographer and be honest, what do you think of looking on Craigslist for one lol?

We paid $2,300 for two photographers for 10 hours. She has been a photographer for less than 5 years so she is rather new to the business. We booked her in 2018 for our 2019 wedding. Her pricing went up in 2019, but since we booked her in 2018 we got the pricing for 2018. Her pricing is going up for 2020 since she has gained more experience and with more experience the more she can charge. I did a quick search in the Buffalo area for wedding photographers and most are at least $2,000 if not more. Buffalo is an expensive area, but you do get what you pay for. My brother-in-law hired a photographer who had little to no experience taking wedding photos and you can definitely tell. I would definitely stay away from Craigslist. If photos are important to you, I would possibly reevaluate your budget because a good photographer in Buffalo is going to cost more.

Craigslist is a great tool but not to find your wedding photographer. Use places like wedding wire and the knot that are more related to that. I personally used instagram a lot! You can find venues around your city and see their page or location and see what photographer is tag in the pictures. I found a lot of my vendors like that and then you’ll check their work and portafolio later on. Wedding photography is NOT easy! Is not just a nice expensive camera and there’s lots of photographer in different price range. This was important for us so we didn’t limit our shelves. Our photographer was $4000 for 7 hours and it was worth every penny.

We're paying $2800 and that was an absolute steal compared to everything else I saw. Our photographer will do our engagement photos, be at the rehearsal dinner, and do all day coverage. Most everything else I saw was $3500+ for engagement photos and 8 hours of coverage.

I’m paying 800 for two because it was a friend of my fh from high school. However he also has an actual photography business and has done weddings. I personally would not look on Craigslist
