Wedding Photographer Stopped Responding, Hasn't Delivered Engagement Photos

Would anyone have some advice? A few months back, we signed a contract with our wedding photographer and paid a deposit. This was someone who came highly recommended by our venue. We had our engagement photo shoot with her on November 15th and we were very happy with her. She told us that she would have the edited engagement photos for us in a few weeks. It's been over two months now. Now, we know the holidays can be a busy time, so we waited until last Monday (January 11) to reach out via email to ask for an update. No answer. I tried texting her on Friday. As of today, there's been no response. We tried calling her cell today and just got her voicemail, so we left a message. I just tried a possible second email address for her. We're really anxious at this point over this lack of communication. We'd understand if there's been some emergency causing a delay, but we really are just looking for an update. Any advice? We really want to avoid having to take the legal route if possible.

    Oh gosh, I’m sorry. This is so frustrating. I’m a firm believer that communication is key, and if she couldn’t get your gallery to you by the agreed upon date, she should have contacted you and said so. Have you looked over your contract on deliverables and how long it says? Additionally, is she active on social media that you could maybe comment on a recent post and ask her to contact you? I’d also definitely have a conversation about this with your SO on if you want to look for someone else for your wedding. I know photos are one of the top priorities for my FH and I, so a non-communicative photographer would probably throw me off the deep end, haha. Again, so sorry you’re dealing with this 😕

    Yeah, there's nothing in the contract regarding delivery times and communication -- just on failure to deliver. She's been semi-active on Facebook as of late December, so we know she has other clients, but her activity hasn't been very active within the last few weeks. Also, we noticed her website has been looking a little janky since last week. We really do want our photos (we've been waiting for them so we can put up our wedding website and send Save the Dates for our November wedding) since we've paid the deposit, but it's the lack of communication that's really bothering us. My fiance and I have been discussing the possibility of getting a new photographer. If we actually had our engagement photos, we might just let her keep the deposit as payment and move on. But we haven't received anything yet in the form of photos or communication in two months.

    I’m so sorry Laura! It could be nothing, but it’s always stressful when people aren’t responsive!!

    I’d give them like a week to respond to your recent calls and emails, then follow up again with a strongly worded message!

    We made contact and got our pictures! A combined issue of a family emergency and a computer glitch caused the issue. We're back on track!
