Wedding Party Gifts- Should i include groom's sisters?

Blythe, on June 7, 2018 at 3:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Hi! I need some advise about gift etiquette. I am currently shopping for my wedding party gifts and I am wondering if I should include my FH's sisters even though they are not in our wedding party? I have three bridesmaids total and I'm spending about $60 a person, plus gifts for my mom and FMIL. My FH has 3 sisters and 2 of them have been fairly involved in helping with DIY decorations. We would have loved to have included them in the wedding party but chose not to as they both have financial restrictions and we wanted to keep costs down from them as we are getting married out of town. He did not grow up with his other sister and I have only met her twice. I feel like if I get the two that have helped with decor gifts than I have to include his other sister a gift as well which really stretches our budget. Should I bite the bullet and include all of them, or draw the line at bridesmaids only?

I think I would stop at the bridesmaids and maybe get something small for your FH sisters.

I would not include the sisters in the wedding party gifts as they are not in the wedding party. If you want to show your appreciation for their help with DIY, give them something else and do it privately.

My FH has three sisters. Two of them have their girls in our wedding as flower girls so I MIGHT get them something. I paid for the flowergirl dresses and their flowers so I’m still on the fence about a gift. I’m curious to hear what other people have to say. I really don’t think gifts are necessary. Even if they helped with the wedding. I look at that as you including them and hopefully they offered and enjoyed doing it. But I could be wrong!

I wouldn't get them wedding party gifts, but maybe a small individual gift for each sister? Like you would the parents.

I would get the sisters who helped a gift card or other small gift as a token of appreciation. You and your FH can give it to them privately showing your thanks Smiley shame

I wouldn't get the same gifts as your wedding party as they aren't bridesmaids. I think it's a super nice idea to get them something to thank them for their help - for me it would just be a different gift and given privately.
