Wedding on a Monday

I just got engaged last week, and we already picked a date. The venue we wanted is already booked solid for every single Saturday next fall; therefore we opted for a Monday as opposed to a Friday or Sunday. Does anyone have any experience or advice on a wedding through the week? I am sure this will mean some cannot get off work in time to make the wedding, but perhaps they could still make it to the reception? Any advice is appreciated!

We did keep our chosen Wedding date on a Monday. We were married on 9/26/11. We had 87% of about 165 invited RSVP that they would be there. of the 87% we ended up with about 25 people that RSVPed that didn't show up. The important people were there, and it turned out great for being on a Monday. We sent out save the date cards 5 months in advance to give people plenty of time to request time off from work, then the invitations went out 3 months in advance. If you decide to do the day before Thanksgiving then your day will make more sense because it is the day before a holiday...but I can't even count the amount of times people asked why we were getting married on a Monday. It comes down to the place we wanted to get married being booked on the Fridays and Saturdays in the fall that we would have wanted...and we wanted to be different...lol. Good luck to you

I'm so happy to have come across this article! We are having a Quantum leap themed wedding and we really want to get married on Leap Day! And if also falls on a Monday...but since it's the winter and it's on a Monday we are getting a really good deal at the venue. Nothings set in stone but I am excited to see that you had such a successful turn out for your wedding with less than 6 months too!
