Wedding no shows?

How many people rsvp'd to your wedding then didn't show up? I'm worried that's gonna happen. Plus those extra escort cards not claimed are going to piss me off

We had to buy 100 plates and had not *nearly* that many guests RSVP yes (I think we had 70) so we hadn't paid extra for anyone nor cut anyone from the guest list. I was really blase about no-shows. They happen. Accept it and don't let it ruin your day.

Danielle and Heather, how many of your no shows had good reasons? Also, was there bad weather? Outdoor weddings? WTF?

We received snow on Saturday. By Sunday evening, roads were completely clear. I think a lot of ours was because they didnt realize it was on a Sunday until the week of. Most of what we've gotten was "I'm sorry, something else came up that day".

The week of the wedding, that was the reason we got. 6 were legit weather related as they were out of state. About 50 never gave a reason and haven't yet reached out to us for any sort of congratulations. Gotta love family. =/

Prepare for it, it will happen. We had 143 RSVP and only 120 show up to eat. A lot dropped out the day before due to illness.

We had 102 RSVP yes, and then 3 didn't come. A friend of my mom's broke up with her BF after we'd given the caterer final numbers, and then she supposedly got lost on her way to the wedding so she didn't come either. the other one was someone DH knows from way back--former teacher, mentor, friend, etc. I have no idea why she didn't come, her son is a friend of DH's and he and his girlfriend both came.

Man, now I am really stressing after hearing these no-show stories! Some of my friends are flakes, but damn, it's just rude to not even notify the couple that you're not coming.

I had 77 adults RSVP. Four no-showed, or canceled the day before. At $100 per plate. One of the no-shows texted a friend of the groom to let him know that hr had the sniffles.

I've been told by both my florist and Venue planner that 30% don't end up coming... I'm hoping thats not the case, it seems like a pretty high percentage to me! But my cousin said only 2 people couldn't make it to hers.

We invited 90, had 81 RSVP that they were coming and wound up with 4 no shows. 2 of my uncles were not able to make it due to health problems and they felt terrible. I got super sweet hand written notes a few weeks later. They also let me know the night before that they weren't coming. We were super lucky that our venue only charged for the number of meals they actually served, not the number I had given them.

We had 3 no-shows. A couple my husband worked with at his previous job texted a few hours before saying their truck broke down on the way. Totally understandable.

Another didn't even call or text. She gave word through her sister that she had a final the next day. Has not contacted us since (December 8th). Understandably, at $125 per plate, we were livid and will probably not speak to her again.

Edit: Including us, we had 49 RSVPs.

I had 3 missing. One was our priest's wife who was sick. The other was my friend and her husband. I saw them at our ceremony but noticed they were missing at the reception, which was super weird since they traveled from out of state to the wedding. It turned out she was REALLY sick and thought she got food poisoning the night before but toughed it out for the wedding. A few days later she was at the hospital having her gallblader removed and had really bad gallstones. Other than that, everybody else came.
