Wedding Money Gifts

Marta, on April 23, 2021 at 4:26 PM Posted in Registry 0 13

Is there like an app or something if you want to allow guests to give money as gifts- or do you just have a box at the reception in case someone feels giving -lol Just wondering since not sure if people do gifts anymore or how that works MONEY IS ALWAYS ACCEPTED IF EASIER =)

Most people just have a card box at the wedding. The vast majority of guests (at least in my circle) put cash or check in a card to the wedding as the gift.

I know we used a cash box. My husband tried to have people use Venmo if they didn’t have cash on them, although I wouldn’t suggest it unless they really could not bring a cash or check to the wedding.

We used a bird cage in lieu of a card box, but the concept is the same, people just stuck their cards (which generally contained a check) into the cage. I still suggest having a gift table though - we ended up with some physical gifts as well and you don't want people to be searching for a place for them.

We did Wanderable.com it was soooo easy. Yes there is a fee however you can choose for you and fh to eat the fee not the givers which was pretty cool. All we had to do was enter our names wedding date honeymoon location, and some stuff about us. Here is the link if you want to check out the website also my link so you can see how it works. https://www.wanderable.com/ http://www.wanderable.com/hm/nikkiandmike2020

That's what I have too, just in case someone doesn't want to use the online version

If you don't have a registry, most guests will default to cards and cash gifts (or checks). Make sure you have a card box (or some other vessel in which people can put cards) at your wedding to gather these in.

Some think it is tacky to just request money as a gift (maybe less so if disguised as a honeymoon fund) and most websites where you can do so charge a small fee. We are just leaving out mention of gifts entirely but plan to have a card box/gift table at our wedding.

A card box with someone attending it would be most secure. You don't want cards or gifts floating or going missing on tables. Most people will know to look for the designated card box, and I would keep it in the reception area as opposed to a separate cocktail space.
