Wedding Milestone: Sending out invites and first Rsvps

SummerBrideInAutumn, on July 9, 2019 at 7:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

So I've been working on addressing my invitations for about a month now. (I'm doing calligraphy on the inner envelopes, outer envelopes, RSVP cards, and the RSVP envelopes!) I still have about another month until they go out, but I didn't want to be rushed and wanted to give myself plenty of time! Writing these out feels like such a milestone...this is getting real, folks!

If you haven't sent out your invitations yet, how long do you have until they go out?

If you have sent out your invitations, who was the first to RSVP?

I haven't gotten them yet. I'll probably sent them out the end of August to beginning of September.

Your wedding is one week after me, so we're close to the same timeline. I have mine slated to go out on Aug 12.

What date do you have as asking to have RSVP's in by? I have October 1st. we aren't having a traditional caterer so we have some wiggle room

My RSVP date is Sept 13 which is why I'm sending them out earlier than you. I don't have to have final counts in until Oct 1, but I wanted some wiggle room. There are also a lot of things I have to do/order based on RSVPs (table name signs, meal stickers, etc) and I didn't want to be rushed doing all that.

I think you should be fine with last week of Aug/first week of Sept.

I thought so too. It's pretty casual, at a community center, we're getting food from a chicken place...I pretty much already have a good idea of who will be coming. I created a save the date facebook event page for the people online, and I half don't expect them to sent the RSVPs back anyway lol

Yay, mom! I actually feel like my mom is going to be a slacker. She'll be one of those "but you know I'm coming people"! It took her a couple weeks to RSVP to my bridal shower too.

Isn't it crazy?! You spend all this time planning, planning, planning and then when people start to RSVP it's like reality hits...people are actually coming!

We have ours ordered and I upgraded shipping so I’m hoping we have them next week. They will go out as soon as I get the addresses on the RSVP’s. Our RSVP date is September 6th because we need final count by September 17th. I was so nervous about ordering them, I’m afraid of messing them up!

I just sent the information on design and wording to my brother today to create the invite suite! I am thinking this will take less time and back & forth than the save the dates did even though it's more pieces of paper to sort out. We changed the background color a bajillion times for the STD but the invites are just white so what could go wrong? Hopefully nothing! I figure he just has to copy paste my wording into his design program and change the font and indents etc. Then add in the floral accents. I need to send them out the end of the month as well Smiley smile

I just sent our invites out 2 days ago so I haven't gotten any back in the mail yet. I'm hoping by end of this week, beginning of next week maybe! However, I also hand delivered some invites. My best friends (who is also my MOH) parents is one who I hand delivered and they gave me their RSVP same day so technically they were my first RSVP!

It doesn't matter how you received it, it still counts! It's exciting either way! I'm sure the ones via mail will start pouring in soon.

Hey, date twin! Hopefully the design process goes smoothly. It took me forever to decide on my invites and to be completely happy with them.

What is your RSVP date? I'm just curious since our weddings are on the same day. And what day do you hope to drop them in the mail?

September 20th is my rsvp date. And I want to have them to people by August 1st so I guess I have to send them a couple days before that maybe the 29th! My headcount is due October 1st.

Yes! Haha there are so many people (mostly family) that I know are coming, but I would still like them to RSVP because we have questions on there for them to answer.

I had the same thought when people started RSVPing.. It made it seem more real.. Like.. Ok we're really doing this 😂 so far we've had a few people RSVP yes that we didn't think would be able to come but I'm thinking maybe the no's will wait towards the end.

I considered using Sept 20 as my RSVP, but I ended up going with Sept 13.
