How did you pick where to have your wedding? Was your fiance raised nearby or somewhere completely different? Was it a difficult decision? Did you decide to travel somewhere exotic or tropical? If you did, let us know why that was your choice! Married ladies and gents- do you have any advice for...

We are getting married in FH hometown. Venues in my hometown are high and there are only a few.

We're getting married where we both live and plan to put down routes.

He's originally from England and I'm from the borders - neither of us have any particularly ties to the places.

My advice, don't pick a location to suit others. Pick something YOU want and can afford.

I live and, and grew up in, San Diego. FH grew up in Missouri. We're getting married where we live in San Diego so it's a hometown wedding for me, but for all of FH's people it's a destination wedding... we're a little of both!

FH is from Indiana, I'm from Texas. We both live in Arizona, and we are getting married in Arizona, 1-2 hours away from where we live though.. Kinda destination-ish? (:

My DH and I were in our mid twenties when we got married. We had returned to the area we grew up and met in, although both our moms (with whom we lived when we met) had moved away, and our dads lived clear across the country, so we got married where we and our friends lived-- clearly lots of people were going to have to travel, wherever we picked, and let's face it-- it's a lot easier to plan a wedding near you, where you can see vendors, look at venues taste food, etc. than clear across the country.

We recently decided to forgo hometown wedding and going to the Netherlands, so it looks like it is going to be a destination wedding.

Hometown. We both are family oriented and it only make sense to have all of our closest family to be with us on our big day.

I will say while choosing your destination for your ceremony figure ou who you want with you. Everyone can't make a destination but if all the most important people can then you are winning!

We are doing a destination wedding in Nassau, Bahamas!! We both live in New Orleans, LA. We decided we wanted a wedding that was intimate on beautiful beach. We are getting married on the beach at sunset & writing our own vows. We have about 20 family & friends attending. My fiancé is a DJ & he watches so many brides & grooms spend most of the day & reception apart. We decided we would have a big party when we get back to celebrate with those who could not travel.

We went to a DW at the Ice Hotel in Quebec for our friends a few years ago & it was just amazing. The day of the wedding everyone who traveled went snow mobiling & dog sledding & then we all had lunch together before going back to get ready. It was intimate & so much fun!!

Both of our parents live an hour and a half away from us in opposite directions. We have made our lives here so the wedding will be here and most people will be traveling a bit.

Destination! Marrying in Italy... ceremony will be in the region of Tuscany, Reception will be 30 minutes away in Umbria region of Perugia. The American guests will be staying at an exclusive Villa with us that we rented for the week in Umbria and the Italian guests will be coming to witness and participate in the ceremony and reception.

This is my dream wedding! Instead of spending hoards of money on one day...we decided to make it an intimate wedding of 50-75 verses the 300 we would have spent on one day in the states. The smaller group meant we could have a celebration of a week. We chose Italy because he was born there and because he could invite his family who lives in Italy. Plus this is the most romantic place in the world, being that we are Catholic this makes it extra special. The fact that we will be marrying in a holy city with a church that dates back to the 4th century makes me want to weep with joy!

Our renewal is in our local community. I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. That would be destination for everyone else.

We decided to have our wedding between our hometowns for our families. He has a small amount of family where we live now, and I have a TON of family in New Jersey and across the east coast. So we put it in between South Jersey and Harrisburg PA. Which puts us somewhere around Philadelphia. Which is the town my FH first asked me out anyway, so I think it's fitting.

We went with my hometown which is actually on the opposite of the country from where we live. Most of our family is there and my grandmother will be 92 next year so it only seemed right.

I just wish it could have been hometown. Unfortunately, at the time, none of our local jurisdictions had same-sex marriage. So we ended up getting married 8 hours from where we live, and planning everything long-distance. I'm just happy for the Internet, which reduced this from impossible to just difficult.

Destination wedding for us and about 90% of the guests. We live in Los Angeles, getting married in Vegas.

I have a HUGE extended family but have always wanted a small wedding. Once we started to look at pricing for venues and catering, we decided we could only afford a small guest list to have the wedding we wanted. I didn't want to offend ppl by having the wedding at home and not inviting them.

FH's family (parents and siblings) live in Vegas so we started to look for venues there. It worked out perfectly! It is more affordable, far enough to be a destination wedding but not too far for the friends and family we want there and it's Vegas! lol Our guest list is currently at 65, would have been 300 if we invited everyone.

We are getting married in FH hometown. His family is all very local to that town and we are getting married in the church some of his other family members have been married in. I love the location and it fit in our tiny budget. I grew up in VT ski town so everything is super expensive there.

We are getting married where I live, which is his hometown. I would much rather get married at my hometown, especially since he's only inviting 10 people and I am going to have a bunch. But his mother has health problems that prevent her from traveling, so we're doing it near her. It's also cheaper here than in NY. But I don't think that would matter to me if not for his mom.

My hometown..most of our guests were relatively local so I feel like having a DW would have been rude 1. I didn't want to dictate guests vacations and 2. I wouldn't feel comfortable making them pay so much for a flight, lodging, gift etc for their family members. I didn't even consider the possibility.

We picked a place close to home. I'm from Florida, but we live in California and it was easier to plan locally.

I considered a destination wedding since it was just immediate family, but again, it was easier to plan locally.
