Wedding is paid off!

Kellie Martinez, on June 18, 2019 at 11:52 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

I've been saying for FOREVER now that "everything is booked. I'm just paying it off!" Then that became "we're almost done paying everything off!" and today I'd like to proudly say that our October wedding is all paid for! Last payments were the last half of our balance to the photographer, the last half of our balance to the videographer, the MUA, and our hair stylist. I also ordered the Bellami hair extensions I'll be using, the bridal earrings I've been eyeing since the beginning of 2018, and the robes for the bridesmaids, moms, and myself. There are small things like that, a Disneyland ticket for the bachelorette party in September, money for travel, etc etc that I'll be paying but all of the big important things are taken care of and I couldn't be more happy.

I have been so stressed because we ended up needing to order 96 chiavari chairs instead of 80 (to be safe) so I knew we'd be paying more but as usual my FH came through and worked an extra shift and used that to add to our savings. I hope the planning is enjoyable for everyone; including the 2020 brides who may be more towards the beginning of planning right now! I was so stressed all of 2019 but when everything is taken care of, months before the wedding, it is fun and exciting again! I feel the way I did when he proposed. All excitement, no stress. I hope you all feel the same way or will soon.

I wanted to add I hired an event decorator/planner who takes care of all set up decor, etc. so I didn't order linens, etc etc. It is really common to have nothing to do with that aspect of planning ( other than finding photos/hiring someone to do it) where I live in california so I have no experience renting anything or ordering anything so I didn't know you can't do that in advance haha.

That’s awesome. How were you able to pay for linens and flowers and catering this far out though? I can’t do any of those things until I have my final count so most of our final payments won’t be until about two weeks out from the wedding.

Congrats! I'm in the everything is booked, I'm just paying it off stage. Some of my vendors don't want final payment until the day of so, I'm stuck there.

The only thing we have left to pay is our flowers and catering. We’re buying our own linen because our catering company doesn’t offer them. We’re getting our flowers from Sam’s Club and they can’t be ordered until late November. Everything else is paid for.

I hired a wedding planner/ event decorator who is providing all decor/ chiavari chairs and decorating for us. This was paid for months ago. Smiley smile Flowers, we told her exactly how many we needed and paid for those a long time ago as well. No matter what, we will have ten tables so centerpiece count will not change, nor will the number of boutonnieres/corsages, bouquets, etc. All of the flowers we ordered will be needed no matter what, haha. I never had in issue paying for either of those things in advance. Catering is the only thing I know most people can't pay until right before the wedding but that was paid for in advance too, as the owners of our venue are good friends of my parents, and we wanted it out of the way. We'd prefer to be given money back if our final guest count is smaller than what we are expecting. Smiley tongue

That's hard but in some ways, may be less stressful because you have all the way until then to save unless you have it all up front, I'm sure you want to just pay it already lol.

That’s awesome!! We aren’t refunded once we give a final count to our venue(catering, dinnerware, tables, chairs, and linens are all done by them) so that’s definitely a benefit! Our flowers are a wait and see thing because currently our plan is for 19 tables if everyone attends, but we’ll need a lot less depending on final count. We’re only sitting 8 people per table regardless of final count so that’s why flowers will change for us.

That makes sense! I do know after watching a lot of engaged youtubers I'm subscribed to and talking to other brides, that you save A LOT of money providing decor yourself. I did purchase a lot of Disney decor that I'll be adding to the decor but the planner / event decorator I hired takes care of all of that. Smiley tongue

That makes sense. I already have ten Disney themed tables in mind and we will have 10 tables whether we have 8 or 10 chairs at each table lol.

I didn’t hire anyone to help me with the decor or planning. I’ve done it all myself. We’re setting everything up and breaking in back down ourselves.

I'm so jealous none of my vendors let me pay in full I have to pay it all the day of the wedding!
Which is stressful in it's own right. Needing to get married and write several thousand dollar checks at once! Ah! I'd rather give them the money now

I totally understand that must be really stressful and doesn't make sense to me. They didn't require that I pay it any sooner than a few weeks before but they never said I wasn't allowed to pay off my remaining balance. Besides catering costs, that seems so weird and inconvenient to me haha
