Wedding Invite/wedding reception invite help!

Sam, on May 21, 2021 at 7:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Hi there,

Do people typically put wedding reception information on the actual wedding ceremony invite or do you typically send two different cards? I haven't been to a wedding in forever and I can't think for the life of me what is typically done. I want to say there are typically two different cards/invites within each guest envelope. One for the ceremony, one for the reception, and oh and one rsvp to return back. (so really 3 total) Can someone enlighten me on this?

Thank you! Smiley smile

Reception info goes on a separate card if it is at a different venue. It goes on the same card if everything is at the same place “Dinner reception immediately following “.

Often there is a directions card too because Google Maps is not always accurate.

    MIchelle,

THANK you! That is what my gut was feeling but it's always better to get an opinion.

Putting the reception info on a separate card is a dated and expensive tradition. Every wedding I've been to in the past 5 years just had one invitation.

You can order full sets (invites, reply cards with envelopes, reception/directions cards, etc) of invites for pennies at Annsbridalbargains.com and Costco.com

There are two options in my opinion. You can either have a separate reception card that lists the info or you can have a line on the bottom of the invitation that ways reception to follow at XXX.

Just put reception to follow on the invite if it’s in the same place! Etsy has beautiful and super cheap suites you can download!

Just ONE invitation. More than that is just expensive, time consuming, and confusing.
Any additional information besides the date, time, location and venue address should go onto little separate one-sided note cards, which are then placed inside the invitation. For instance, the reception details, wedding registry information, etc etc. all go onto a separate note card, but are all included in the one invitation.

Most places that do wedding invitations will also let you order these little note cards that will match your invitation cards 😊

Registry info does not go in the invitation. It is spread by word of mouth or it can be added to the website.

I ordered mine from Zazzle (free black membership saved on shipping ~ just be sure to cancel before the "trial" ends) they weren't expensive & I got the "tri-fold" ones that had the RSVP card on one section, the actual invitation on another, and "information" on the 3rd. And as someone else mentioned the registry info doesn't go in or on the actual invite. IF you are doing a website it can go there &/or make sure your family/attendants know where you did your registry/s.

I have a free wedding website for our destination wedding. This way people RSVP, reception & everything is all in one place ( they receive a physical wedding invitation with the website on it). Saves money & stationary.
