Yep. You read it right. I just got a TEXT message from my birth Father's girlfriend saying "Hope your having a good day, I wanted to invite you and your family to me and your dads wedding at the church next Saturday at 3" Back story..me and my birth father have never, ever been close. My parents...

Back story..me and my birth father have never, ever been close. My parents (mom and step dad) have been married 26 years in April. I will be 28 in February so my step dad has always been my Dad and he will be walking me down the aisle.

Needless to say I did not reply to her message and I will not be attending. This is his 5th marriage and I am a little too old for the whole step mom thing. Ugh!

In October I got a text message invite to a wedding and I was estatic about it! It was a simple courthouse ceremony, no reception or anything. I couldn't care less how I am invited to a wedding; I got invited. They are crazy in love and make each other massively happy.

I think the issue more is the person who invited you.

I'm with Stitching, maybe it was a last minute thing. Perhaps she is trying to bridge things between you and your birth dad and this is the only way she had to do it.

Fifth marriage or not, if you want to maintain a relationship then go or just send a card of congrats. Or don't. Not everything others do is meant to hurt us. Some people are just...different
