Wedding Invitation Help!

Erin, on August 16, 2019 at 1:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
Okay, I will admit that I have a horrible decision making issue and planning our wedding in four months has been a huge test! The biggest challenge I’ve run into is finding invitations. We’re in a time crunch and there are a lot of options out there, but we also don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on invites. I’ve been given websites like Zazzle, Shutterfly, Vista Print, etc...but there are way too many options. Any advice?

Have you picked a theme or vibe yet?

A big tip if you’re on a budget or time crunch, find flat, normal size invites that won’t require crazy postage or the RSVPs won’t require weird postage.

We are getting married the day before you. Congrats! I got ours on Etsy and will be delivered today. I plan to have them in the mail before Labor Day weekend. Invites get thrown out so I wouldn't stress too much on the design.

A lot of people on here suggest Ann's Bridal Bargains. I didn't find a style I loved, but we are more nontraditional.

You can also purchase a template on Etsy and then customize/print at Staples or somewhere local. I'd suggest doing something like that because you will want your invitations sent out within the next 2 weeks or so.

    Good luck!

Figure out what theme or look you are going for and then search online. We went with Zazzle and they were easy and quick and not very expensive

We’re going with a rustic theme. Was thinking of something simple like this, maybe? Without the flower/greenery, of course.

I feel like if you are a very indecisive person, the best bet is to narrow your choices as early on as you can. Let's say you decide to go with Ann's Bridal Bargains (they have the best sale, the most options, whatever the reason). As soon as you get on the website, start narrowing your choices. Use the filters to eliminate styles you know you aren't interested in, or to highlight styles you do like. When I did that, I found my choices were greatly reduced. For example, when I started, there were like 200 invites to look through. But I chose some of the filters, and suddenly, that number was reduced to 10. I can choose from 10 a lot easier than 200, so that really helped me. Even though I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted when I started looking, I did know a few things I DIDN'T want. That was very helpful. I just do better with less options. So, try that, and see what you come up with.

What type of invite are you going for? Simple? Elegant? Over the top? (Yes they make those lol) I would Think about that and go from there. I knew I wanted elegant invites and I love The look of the laser cutting. We just chose a laser cut that matched our colors and sprinkled a bit of the theme in by adding a Disney quote to it.

I decided to purchase a template off of Etsy, it was $30, and she sent it customized to my email next day. Then I went to a local print shop (not a chain like staples, local place was way cheaper) and printed 65 invites and RSVP cards for $40 total. Ordered Avery address labels and envelopes off of Amazon, total was about $40, plus stamps at the post office were $33.

I got them done and sent out within a week and they looked great! They aren't your style but they have a million different options on Etsy! Smiley smile

We ordered both our STDs and invitations from Vistaprint when they were having sales. The STDs were less than $70 with shipping for 70 matching sets. And the invitations were $110 with shipping for another 70 matching sets.

Daughter only decided and ordered about 3.5 months before the wedding. She ended up going with Zazzle because they had a very pretty design that coordinated well with the colors and "feel" she was going for -- tasteful, semi-formal, traditional, but not stuffy (if that makes sense). She really liked that there were so many products available in the design-group she liked. She ended up with not only the invitations suite, but escort cards, a couple of small signs, stickers for the edible favors, thank-you notes, etc., that all coordinated but weren't overly "matchy-matchy" or too "themed." They went well with everything else, but didn't call attention to themselves. Also, I don't think she ever ordered anything without at least a 50% discount (which they offer FREQUENTLY) -- sometimes she even got 60%. If you'll be placing multiple orders, definitely sign up for the "Zazzle Black" promotion -- you get free delivery.... Good luck! Smiley heart

Oh my goodness, yes! When there are lots of options, it just becomes incredibly overwhelming. I’m glad I’m not the only one. 😂 That’s a very good idea, Cristy. Thank you for the advice!

The laser cutting is very pretty! Your invitations are nice! I’m looking for something rustic. Nothing extravagant or over the top, but still something that looks nice.
