Wedding guest rsvp No then says Yes, help!

Hasn’t happened and hopefully will not! We only have enough room for 170 at the reception and sadly can not invite everyone due to space. What is the line of etiquette for the above entitled? Hasn’t happened and hopefully will not! We only have enough room for 170 at the reception and sadly can not invite everyone due to space.
What is the line of etiquette for the above entitled?
I would hate to invite someone who is a dear friend who rsvp’d yes after finding out that a dear uncle who said no can fly out last minute and be there. My fear is not enough space to seat everyone. Anxiety setting in for this already! Yikes! Love to hear from you all.

    This. I don't see anything wrong with filling a seat with someone you want there. People have this idea that B list is only people you're not sure you want there - that's not always the case. Sometimes, dear friends or family members get stuck on the secondary list.

    To OP: It's hard, but if you venue has a strict limit, they might cut people off from coming in after 170. I would under invite anyway. If you're going to do a B list, invite like 155 to avoid this hypothetical situation, and if someone brings an uninvited plus 1 you wont be over capacity either. It's usually for fire code reasons that they have a capacity - it would suck to have them turn an invited guest away because someone brought a plus 1
