I need some opinions..... I bought this wedding gown when I was engaged previously. Well he bailed, left me high and dry. Now Ive met an AMAZING wonderful man, that wants to marry me, and Ive said YES!! again...... Im struggling with if I should use the original dress, or get a new one. Or "change up" the original one. My FH says i can do whatever Id like, as long as Im happy with my choice. This is his 1st marriage, my 2nd.

I tried on dresses this weekend with my mom in her home town, including the original dress..... and she thinks I need to get over the attachment of the "ex" with that dress. I feel like when i put that dress on, that it is "tarnished" even though I know hes never seen it, nor has it been worn yet. I showed my FH all the "photos" of the different dresses i tried on, and he actually picked out the dress that I have, as his favorite on me.... He doesnt know which one I have.. So do I stick with my original..... anyone else going through something like this? Help!!!!

It looks very nice on you, but you did buy it for another man....I would sell it and use the money towards a new dress.

I can't really add anything, but I like what you have, but if you don't then sell it and get yourself a new one Smiley smile

Wear the dress sans jacket. The jacket makes you look a little frumpy.

If you still love it, then wear it! but if you don't, then I think you should find another.

btw- I think it's very pretty, though I don't care for the jacket. maybe if you 'jacked it up' with a belt or some accessories it wouldn't feel like the same dress Smiley smile

I wouldn't buy a new dress. You fell in love with the dress. It had nothing to do with who you were marrying but rather how you looked and felt in the dress. I think you look beautiful and I wouldn't spend the money.

If you feel the dress is "tarnished", put it up for sale (oncewed/com/craigslist.org/tradesy.com) and invest in something new. You need to worry about how you will feel in your gown on your wedding day.

I say you do one of two things. Depending on what money you have to spend, I say you either A)Alter the old dress to be something a bit different and unique so it's not the "same" dress you were going to get married in before or B) get a new dress. But you need to do something to not be the same thing. I kind of agree with your mom. If anyone knew that was your dress from before and happens to talk to your ex, would you want him to know that you might still be pining after him, even if you truly aren't? Just a thought.

It's been 10 + years. Did you keep it? Get a different one? If you still have it, I'd be interested in buying it!
