Wedding Etiquette: Bride and Groom Wedding Gift Exchange?

Lacie23, on August 20, 2013 at 12:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Today I am trying to think of something special for my FH to exchange before we get married. I would like it to be something sentimental that we could hold onto forever and possibly hand down to our children. Do you ladies have any ideas for bride or groom gifts?

We are not exchanging gifts either, but we are doing sweet notes that our flower girl is going to exchange for us while we get ready

Sorry, not doing gifts - I feel like I am gift enough for my FH.

I have suggested in the past to other brides-to-be a series of letters for when you are mad at each other, when you FH is sad, when your FH has a bad day, when you FH does this or feels this way.

Found the idea on pinterest - they probably have a waaaaaaay better list of letters to write.

Haven't figured ours out yet Bc it's kind of far away but what about jewelry... Like a nice watch, or cute socks for his "cold feet", or a bootleg bottle of alcohol for him to do a shot with his groomsmen?

Jamie we are thinking the same thing...we are paying for a lot of the wedding plus rehersal dinner & honeymoon ourselves so we were thinking about putting "gift" money towards the honeymoon. I love the letter idea, its something we could hold onto forever.

I got my FH cologne, a pocket watch with our date engraved, and a dictionary (basically I highlighted words I want in our marriage and crossed out words I didn't want in our marriage - my FH is big on words/using the right wording/etc...)

We actually exchanged gifts on Sunday night haha... I just couldn't wait and etc... I felt it was perfect timing. He got my perfume & diamond earrings. He had this story - he gave me a diamond journey necklace shortly after he told me he loved me at Christmas, a diamond ring to ask me to marry him, and diamond earrings for our wedding day.

Anyways, our limit was $200. I love that we have these new perfume/cologne for this special day to remind us. We also each have a gift that will last hopefully forever.

OMG I love the dictionary idea! How cute! My FH is always picking on me for using the wrong words in situations so he would get a kick out of that for sure.

Im giving him a photo album of our time together and some nudes of me, and a letter to him for him to read before the ceremony. Might calm his nerves. Whole gift cost $12, it wont make or break our $1200 honeymoon.

We had no plans to exchange anything. But he does want the pocket knife we are getting the GM and since they are not pricey at all he will get that. As for me, I'd be happy if he quit smoking.

We aren't doing gifts either. My FH didnt even know people did that until i brought up the idea of NOT doing it. We rather spend our money on fun honeymoon stuff.

I hadn't planned on getting him a gift as we are also paying for everything, etc. But was browsing on Etsy and they have these cool tie clips that you can have GPS coordinates stamped into. Since we are eloping, am getting him one with the coordinates of the location with the date on the back. Is only about $20 so not going to break anyone's budget. And will be nice for him since he will have to wear ties once his promotion goes into effect.

My husband gave me my wedding dress sketched by My Dreamlines. Best gift ever! I now give it out as wedding gifts. You can see the portfolio here https://www.weddingwire.com/biz/dreamlines-llc-ofallon/312df29d678919b5.html
