Wedding during covid-19

G Rgers, on April 23, 2020 at 9:01 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

My daughter is getting married July 25th. Everything is set, but of course with covid-19 we really don't know what will happen. I suggested delaying it until next summer. She plans to get married regardless of the covid-19 situation and just have a very small intimate wedding of 10 people. Here's my question. How can we make it special considering how the wedding will be cut back? Originally, it was going to be 200 people with a plated dinner, music and dancing. Any ideas sure would be appreciated.

    Ideas for you:
-Order takeout dinner from their favorite restaurant.
-Create a playlist on your phone, use a speaker to make it louder, so they can have their first dance and so you can all dance together! -Decorate the room with white holiday lights.-Bake the wedding cake together a day or 2 before the wedding. -Take a lot of pictures!!

My mom did a surprise reception in her backyard. I was honestly shocked. It was just the 10 of us. She decorated it real nice. Had the cake stand all pretty. I wish i could post pictures but my sister has them on her phone and hasn't give them to me lol. She also put a lot of lights around. It was really nice. Just look on pinterest and see what idea you can get. She will love it.

Thanks Anna, That's an idea. With the state of things right now I think the wedding will be about 10 people.

And I’ve been seeing a lot of people do car parades so if additional guests wanna come in person to give a gift or to say well wishes in person they can drive by or something

Great idea. This way they could see the bride and groom dressed up. Thank you

    Hi there,

I am loving all of the suggestions above! These are so unique and full of sentiment, especially during this crazy, stressful and uncertain time! It seems like a lot of July couples are waiting a few more weeks before making postponement decisions, but everyone's situation is different and it never hurts to be proactive about plan b!

There are a ton of July brides also talking about their Covid-19 concerns in these discussions:July 2020 Weddings
June and July Brides do not stress Covid-19!!!I hope this helps.Stay positive and hang in there!!
