Hi guys,

It's official - my mom and I are going wedding dress shopping for the very first time this weekend. It's extra special, because when my mom got married, my grandmother was "too busy" working to attend her dress appointments. I know that hurt my mom quite a bit. I wanted my mom and I to have that moment together, just the two of us.

Anyway, I digress... I am ABSOLUTELY obsessed with this dress. It's Maggie Sottero's "Glorietta" gown. I just found out both wedding shops I'm visiting this weekend have it in-store.

What points of advice can you share?

- Should I try this dress on FIRST? Last?

- Did you end up with the dress you obsessed over on Pinterest?

All your thoughts and advice welcome!

Thanks in advance!!

I also fell in love with a Maggie dress online & found a store near me that carried it.
    100% TRY IT ON LAST!!!!!
I tried on about 9 dresses total, all different styles and I actually like one other one, but as soon as I put on the last one (the one i found online), none of the other dresses compared!!!!! I even teared up which is weird for me! Definitely try on other styles & try the one you love last.

I don't know what it is about these Maggie dresses, but every time a dress catches my eye on Pinterest - I click - and it's a Maggie!! I'm really hopeful "she's" the one. Thanks for your response!!

All the other dresses i tried on were Maggie as well. I think it's best to stick with one designer if they do a good job presenting what style you're going for.

Try this dress on first and last!!! My matron of honor suggested trying my gown on again after some other ones and it clicked a million times more with me. I was so excited to put it back on and it made me realize how much I seriously loved it. Good luck!!! Mine's a Maggie Sottero, too!! I really hope you have fun! 😁

I’d suggest trying it on first because if you don’t, you’re going to have it in your mind the whole time and may not be able to focus on the other gowns you’re looking at. I had a gown I thought I was 100% going to say yes to and when I tried it on I didn’t like it AT ALL. I tried it on first but we couldn’t find it at first and all I could think about was that dress. You just never know what will happen! I love that dress though, it’s beautiful!

That dress is GORGEOUS and I hope you love it as much on as you do in the picture! I would try it on first so that you have that benchmark/time to re-evaluate if you find you don't love it as much when you try it on. Good luck dress shopping and have fun! I had a blast when I went for the first time with my mom and sister. Smiley smile

That's really awesome that you are going to go with your mom!! Honestly, for myself, I am so glad I went with just my mum. We had the best experience together and it was my first and last time in a dress shop. I had obsessed over getting a ball gown and found tons online and how I wanted to look but I did keep an open mind about other silhouettes. I put on different ones like a mermaid, a line, empire, and trumpet but always came back to my dress the ball gown. So I say be open to others and put the one you love on Pinterest first and last. If you can't stop thinking about it and comparing it to others then you have found what you are looking for. I wish you very happy hunting and enjoy the time with your mom!!

My suggestion is to not put it on first but to put it more in the middle. I was one of those who dreamed of their dress since middle school and even had the style number memorized (d2322). My store had to bring it in special for me and I ended up loving it and picking that dress. I had heard all the horror stories and knew that I shouldn't have done it but it ended up working perfectly! Don't give up hope that it could be your dress!

So exciting for you!!! trying on all silhouettes is extremely important because it will give you a feel for what you truly want. growing up, i dreamed of a huge ballgown. to my surprise, i ended up with the most beautiful mermaid silhouette because ball gowns didnt shape me well. i looked pregnant even though im a pretty small person. a-line gowns also didnt flatter me because they distorted my shape a bit. i found that fit and flare, mermaid, and trumpet silhouettes looked best on me, which was so shocking because i had always dreamed of the exact opposite. the gown you posted is absolutely beautiful. if you are a simple girl, i say try on the one you posted above first. there shouldnt be much haggling if its the one for you. other dresses wont come close to competing. if you arent a simple girl, i would try on a few different shapes first before trying that one on because you never know what you will actually like on your body. that might relieve some of the pressure or potential disappointment. i am definitely not simple and went through probably a hundred dresses before finding mine. it is important to remember that finding a wedding dress can be a long, difficult, discouraging process. i had my heart set and tried on so many pinterest gowns that i loved on the model, but i hated them all on me. i suggest that you go with an open mind and a supportive group of people because that helps the most. start with a general description of what you are envisioning and disclose that you are new to this and, therefore, dont quite have an idea of which silhouettes flatter you the most. the bridal consultants should put you in a few different silhouettes and then you will be good to try on your pinterest gown if you like that silhouette. try not to get discouraged about anything, even if it doesnt look as good as you thought it might. this is something you and your mom will cherish forever so just try to enjoy it. good luck!!!

Hey! I’m so excited for you and I also understand the specialness since it was just my mom and I shopping for my dress.
I don’t remember how many I tried on in total before trying on the one I fell in love with. The ones I thought I was going to like ended up being what I didn’t want lol, after browsing on kleinfeld’s website I found this dress that I really loved by Maggie sottero That I just had to try on so when I went to the store that had this particular one I tried it on last and LOVED it was like magic lol

My advice is to def try on different dresses and maybe different silhouettes ( I didn’t because I was going for the ballgown/princess look)
I wouldn’t bring so many people to the appointment personally but you’re only bringing your mom
Smiley smile hope I helped and enjoy your dress shopping!

When i went for the first time I showed the seamstress a picture from pinterest to get an idea, she brought out a dress and I tried it on and fell in love. to be sure I tried on 2 other dresses, a long sleeve and a ball gown. I was like take these off immediately. I ended up getting the first dress i tried on out of 3
