I bought my dress not long after getting engaged, now my wedding is about 4 months away and I'm wishing that I got a different type of dress. I bought my dress not long after getting engaged, now my wedding is about 4 months away and I'm wishing that I got a different type of dress.

It is a mermaid style dress (link below), but now I'm thinking that there is only one time in my life that I will be able to wear the big wedding dress (not too big, like A-line) and now I'm having regrets and second thoughts. I still like the dress, just wish I got the once in a lifetime wedding dress.

Has anyone else had dress regrets?

I think that it is all too easy to keep looking at gowns after selecting one. You loved your gown, when you bought it, for a reason. Yes, you will see others, in photos, that are really pretty. But, you bought yours for a reason.

I have to say, when I got married, many years ago (the wedding date under my name is my daughters), my mother dictated my gown. She is frugal, even though she and my father were very well to do. Well, her frugality caused me to select a gown that was pretty, but not me. We bought it at a local high end department store, back in the 80's, when such stores had full bridal departments.

Again, it was a pretty dress, but so not me. The ones that were "me" were a few hundred dollars more. Remember, this was the 80s, 1982 to be exact, so a few hundred dollars was a lot. Face it, in those days, you could buy a brand new 3 bedroom, 2 bath home for around $45,000.

Bottom line, if you selected your gown because you loved it, stop looking! ;-)
