Wedding Dress out of budget.

I found this dress, and my whole family fell in love with it. It has honestly made all of the other dresses I have tried on seem boring, but it's put of my price range. I'm pretty sure I could do it, my wedding is in July so I have time, but should I break the bank for this or just settle for one in...

Did you ask the bridal shop if any other designers have similar dresses? I know many designers have dresses that are similar to each other and sometimes the prices vary a decent amount! Might be able to get the best of both worlds.

I believe they have a DB credit card you could possibly apply for and pay the gown off until your wedding. Or they have payment plans, which I think you could do with a down payment. I would go for it if it makes you feel so good about yourself. I think it's worth it.

For $500 over budget you might be able to find it within budget in a different location. I first tried my dress in NYC for over 2-grand. Then found it for $1700 closer to home in Connecticut. If you know the designer and style name, try shopping around at different boutiques. Good luck! And PS you look great!!!

@Amanda- You don't take out another credit card/ go into debt to pay for a dress you can't afford. That's horrible advice.

If someone in the family wants to chip in to cover the extra costs, go for it. Otherwise, move on and write this down as a lesson learned.

I say, go for it. Work for Uber or idk, eat cup of noodles for a while! Btw, dress looks beautiful on you! Do they offer a payment plan?

They do offer payment plans, and I will get some help paying for it. Also, the $500 is including any extra fees. I did try on the sample dress, but they come in petite sizes that's why it's so long, I'm very short. My consultant even said that I won't need much to change it.

For those of you asking why I tried on a dress I couldn't afford it's because I saw it on the mannequin before I saw the price and everyone I was with, including myself, were basically drooling over it when my consultant showed up. I told her my budget and it was only a couple hundred dollars over so she brought it out anyways and said that she knew we loved it so she wanted me to try it on even if it was over budget.

It's got a pink hue on the skirt underneath which I loved and I couldn't find a dress like that in the store.

Please don't patronize me or belittle me for asking a question.

This is why you don't try on dresses over budget. You even knew it was over budget and tried it on anyway. Now you're upset. If you knew $500 was going to be such a struggle, you should have told the stylist you liked that style, show me more, but keep it within my budget.

    No sympathy.

I'm not asking for sympathy. Lol

I'm not upset or trying to make you feel bad for me, to be honest I CAN make it work if I end up getting it. It was really just a matter of should I try or should I be very strict with my budget.

And I did say exactly that with my consultant so thanks for the thought. If you read my other comment it's actually only like $200 over budget. But I added a few more for altering, which I would probably be paying that much for any dress.

Try preownedweddingdresses.com if you can find it pre owned, it's usually so much cheaper- and really it was only worn once!
