Wedding Dress Neckline

Liz, on July 26, 2019 at 12:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
Hi! I think this is my first post here!
I just found three wedding dresses that I love this week, so I am working on making a decision. The first one I love has such a fun back but the front’s kind of plain. I think if the neckline was altered slightly it may be better- I recently got my boobs done, and I just feel like this doesn’t enhance them in any way.

I was thinking a slightly deeper but very narrow V. Don’t want them completely hanging out! Does anyone 1. Think this could be altered 2. Have a suggestion for shape.
Of course I will ask the dress shop, but my Appt to make my final decision is 2 weeks away. I’d love to have some feedback to consider in the meantime!

thank you!!

Can you screenshot the picture and add it instead of links?

Nopr! Right above where you type your message, click on the icon in the middle that looks like a picture with a mountain! Once you click on that, depending on your phone it will allow you to choose camera or gallery and then you just find the picture and select it!

Do you know the Designer and style # of the dress? Maybe we can look it up online.

I’m not a seamstress, but I definitely agree that a lower V-neck would be a touch more flattering. Maybe something like the photo I attached could be possible? I’d imagine they would need to add some boning to help keep the cup shape, but I would think it would be a manageable alteration.

It also looks like there’s a nice spot for the alteration between the lace at the top of your bust. I’d say totally talk to the seamstress about it!

Ok, so this is a dumb question, but don't you generally talk to someone about altering the dress AFTER purchasing. Like the sales associate was able to tell me things that could possibly be altered (I didn't bring up neckline bc I hadn't thought of it yet), but what if I purchase the dress and there's nothing the seamstress can do bc there wasn't one on site.

Do you think a neckline like this could work/ is better. (I posted this to another forum and everyone told me to get this dress. Not getting this one! Just like the neckline!)

I totally thought you had bought the dress already...my bad for not reading for full comprehension! Maybe take the picture into a reputable seamstress to see what they have to say? Do you love it enough that you would be fine with the neckline if they couldn’t alter it?

I do like this neckline better! Super flattering! I think it could be done, but again, I have zero alteration experience! I still say take both pictures to a reputable seamstress and ask for their opinion. They may not be able to give you a solid answer without seeing the dress/material, but they should be able to give you an idea on whether or not it’s possible.

No prob and thanks so much! I don’t really know a seamstress so I was hoping someone on a wedding board might know, but I will be asking the sales associate as well (I’m going back in a couple weeks to retry some dresses). I’m trying one last shop tomorrow, so I’ll ask them about neckline alterations too Smiley smile

Does the salon have any recommendations for seamstresses? Can you give them a call to ask and then take the pictures in before your appointment? I know the salon I bought my dress from also doesn’t have an in store seamstress, but they had a list of ones they recommend. Or maybe look for a Facebook sewing/alterations group that could give you a little more knowledgeable opinion.
