Why did it come so long? didn't you get measured? who made the mistake? if it was the store, wouldnt they then have to pay to get it shortened? (sorry might be a stupid question, but I havent even bought my dress yet, so learning as I go)

Do you have an alterations shop in your local mall? That's where I take my regular clothes and was chastised severely for not taking my wedding dress first. Long story but I lost a lot of weight (by accident) before my wedding and they did it fast and perfectly! You dress looks like they can hem it from the waist relatively easily. I would stay away from the chain wedding dress stores but look into local seamstresses and dry cleaners.

At alfred angelo they order the size dress for u but they don't measured how long would be the dress on you....and they dont have return or exchange. everything is final once u order the dress....alfred angelo has some nice dresses but beware they do have sucky policy...and alteration is overpriced but they don't have a good costumer service. they didn't tell me any advice or even make any suggestion, the fact that my dress would be too long for me. they didn't even advice me to get a pouffier slip and i got a slip already that is not even thick enough....but now i just have to deal with it can't really complain now...thanks everyone for the advice...

Please try to find an independent seamstress in your area. I am sure you can get a much better price on the alterations. I have shortened this very dress several times and never charged anywhere near $300.
