Just need to vent... I bought my wedding dress 7 days ago. I love it so much, i felt so good when I tried it on. Just need to vent... I bought my wedding dress 7 days ago. I love it so much, i felt so good when I tried it on. My consultant at davids bridal did not button it all the way because she said there were too many buttons to do... she just grabbed both sides of the dress and pulled it together and said it fit perfectly. She never took my measurements. So I paid $800 for the dress, Ithought it fit perfectly because I was so comfortable in it, but in reality there were huge gaps of areas not buttoned so I couldn't feel the true fit. I went back to davids bridal today for alterations. The seamstress went to button my dress up and guess what? It's too tight. It will button, but just barely and it is incredibly uncomfortable. It is a size 16 and does not go up to an 18. So here I am, my wedding in 25 days, and the dress I bought doesn't fit. I didn't gain weight and I wore the same exact undergarments- remember, I only bought the dress 7 days ago!! So now they're going to order (continued)

Exact reason why im not stepping foot into that store during my bridal season. They've screwed me over every single time I've had to use them while being a bridesmaid there is just no way I'd trust them for my dress. sorry this happened to you, I'm sure it will all work out. hugs

I really don't think I would ever commit to a dress without having my measurements taken, especially if the one I tried on hadn't been completely buttoned up. Wedding dress sizes run so differently from regular sizes, especially from brand-to-brand. That's unfortunate and frustrating, but honestly it seems like it was a disaster waiting to happen.

Definitely talk to the manager! I know a girl who had a similar situation at DB, and they heavily discounted her dress for her bad experience. Every location seems to vary. But, it's worth a shot!

I hope the dress fits amazingly when you get to try it on!

DB is notorious for things like this. I was in a wedding 2 years ago, the bride tried on a dress that fit her perfectly and they tried so hard to convince her to order 3 sizes bigger. They also upped the bridesmaid dresses by 2 sizes for every bridesmaid. If your dress doesn't fit you have to pay for alterations. Not a good experience. I avoided them like the plague when I went dress shopping. Take a deep breath, this will work out!!

Try to get one of these. I got one at the recommendation of my seamstress to smooth everything out because I hated Spanx and no joke, they measured me before and after and I was down 2 inches. It may help for the day and they come with sleeves and strapless

I know how disappointing it is.. hopefully the right sized dress will be a perfect fit and if not the seamstress can get it altered in time.

That sucks. Just breath. Everything will work out and you are going to look beautiful on your wedding day. As for the consultant... I would make sure she doesn't have a job anymore. But thats just me.

Yes I did buy my dress a month before my wedding, my wedding was originally planned for 2018 but my mother is terminally ill and she won't make it until then, so we pushed it forward. I trusted the consultant and it was my first time trying on dresses so I didn't question her, but I wish I would have. The manager is the woman who is helping me now and who ordered the new size and is overseeing everything for me now and she has been very helpful. It was clear that she wasn't pleased with the consultant who helped me find my dress. The new dress is in and I go in tomorrow to try it on and get alterations so fingers crossed!!!

I mean if OP bought the exact sample off the rack because she was under the impression it fit, she wouldn't need to be measured.

OP bless your heart! I'm so sorry about your mother and it doesn't matter how close out you bought it, this was DB's mistake! It's all going to be fine and there are many ways a good seamstress can alter the dress is DB fails you again. They can add a back panel or take two dresses and work with them both. It may cost you extra but since they've already ordered the 14W at least they have two to work with!

So the appointment to try on the 14W is tomorrow and I'm kind of freaking out with nerves!!!! Is a 14W really bigger than a 16? They assured me that it is a little bigger in the chest and hips but I'm concerned because according to the sizing charts online at davids bridal, 14W and 16 are almost identical? If this doesn't fit I'm screwed because my wedding is now in 22 days and I'm already in love with this dress!! I'm wondering why they didn't order it in a 16W, because it comes in that size. I always think of these concerns afterwards, I was so frustrated then that I didn't ask if it came in 16W, I just questioned why 14W would fit better than a 16 and they said it was cut bigger. I'm just so nervous, and tmi but I just got my period so now I'm bloated too Smiley sad

I am right in the middle of a 14 and a 16w. I tried my dress on in a 14 and it fit but was snug, so I ordered a 16w thinking better safe than sorry. When it came in and I tried it on it was much too big. My consultant put me back in the 14, brought out the alterations manager and she recommended I exchange it for the 14. It just came in yesterday and it fits fine. There is definitely a difference between the two sizes so you should be okay! Maybe bring shape wear with you, so you can see if it helps at all.

You have to remember sample sizes are stretched out from being tried on. It sounds like you did not buy off the rack, but tried on a sample and they ordered accordingly thinking since the sample fit, the ordered one would fit. So hopefully the new one fits otherwise you're going to have to buy off the rack and get it altered on the fly. Good luck.

She did the bustle too! The photo quality is so good on my phone, I don't know why the quality goes down so much when I post them
