Mine are $400 bc of me losing weight, being short and two layers of horsehair lace 🙄

$410 but if I get my train shortened it will be $500. I’m short and I don’t want a really long train, plus I’m almost 50! 😊😊😊

My train ended up being way longer than I had intended, but I’m not gonna shorten bc there is too much detail and I do not want to spend another penny on it! Wedding dress alterations 1

Alterations for me cost $650 but I'm in Brentwood, CA and she's basically doing "lace surgery" on it to raise my flare point higher Smiley xd

It's a mermaid dress and I'm 5'1" so the bottom originally didn't start flaring out until below my knees. She's raising the flare point to start at the middle of my knees so my legs look longer. #shortpeopleprobz

I need to hem the dress to not wear heels, and the cost is HOW MUCH?! I get the four layers of lace but they're killing me. At least after this last round, I feel more like the dress fits me.

Hey Neighbor!! I love in Bay Point (W. Pittsburg), CA!! I used to live in Brentwood, and that's where my seamstress is.

I'm paying $450 for my alterations. It is a lot of money, but I feel like she's doing a lot for me, too. She's replacing the zipper with a corset back, she's adding off-the-shoulder straps, hemming (several layers), adding a bustle, swapping out the belt for a different one. I'm lucky enough to be getting a "friend" price, as she is a friend of a friend of mine. But it's still more than half the cost of the dress itself. Crazy!!

Wow yea that does sound like a lot of work! Mine is just taking it in, raising the flare, hemming, and adding a bustle, but the lace of course makes it much more complicated. May I ask who is your seamstress? I took mine to A Stitch In Time and Olivia's been great so far.

I’m actually going to where I purchased the dress. I’m new to the city and didn’t trust anyone else.

    Yes, alteration is really expensive.

We have to understand the work and craftsmanship behind a small alteration.
If I have to alter a dress. I need to use seem ripper to rip all seems. Then again stitch. Obviously it more difficult then normal Stitching.

Yes.....my dress was around $100, and my alterations were around $250. I’m also super short so she had to shorten the the length, add a bustle on an all lace dress and add boning in the sides so it wouldn’t sag on the sides since I’m so short.

Just the bustle on my dress was over $300, and I still had other alterations that needed to be done 😭 Worst part was that the little loops for the bustle broke when my bridesmaids tried to bustle it up before the reception and some of the buttons fell off 😤 I did end up contacting DB since they did the alterations and got the $300 back thank god. It’s crazy what alterations cost.
