Wedding day makeup

Erin, on December 12, 2019 at 6:14 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 11
I’m doing my own makeup for the wedding (didn’t fit into the budget) so I want to start practicing now xD. I don’t wear makeup very often so it’s kind of a big deal.

My dress is big but fairly simple. I’m very pale. The dress itself is ivory and doesn’t have all the lace and beading and all that pizzazz. Should i stay neutral on the makeup or go dome something bolder because the dress is on the simpler side?
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a good foundation? I’ve tried liquid and powder and both make my face look like one giant dry flake (no matter how much moisturizer and primer I use).
My dress is pictured below.

I don't do my makeup at all except holiday parties or weddings. I still don't use foundation so I'd be interested to see what others say.

Someone told me I could use a bronzer if I don't like foundation, has anyone used it or recommends it?

Hmm that’s interesting. I hadn’t heard that one. If I use bronzer I’d have to use it on my whole body xD

I'm "hoping" this bronzer is more of a subtle shiny addition to my face so it doesn't look dull and dry. I wish I had a HMUA follow me everywhere I go to make sure I look perfect...ha

I would go to Sephora or Ulta and see if they can help you with finding a foundation. You may need help with application, such as using a wet beauty blender so it doesn't get a cakey appearance.

If you choose to forego foundation, I would recommend some blush, neutral eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. I would go bold in the lipstick if you want but don't try a complicated eye look if you are not practiced.

    Smiley sad

I would look into doing a more simple look without foundation then.

Watch some makeup tutorials and practice! Good luck!!

I would recommend going to a MAC counter, they will do your makeup for “free” as long as your purchase ~$50 worth of product, but this is most likely similar to what you would pay to buy makeup products anyways since you don’t do makeup often. I think you can even book an appointment ahead of time so you won’t have to worry about being ignored, they would be expecting you!

I used to have the same problem. I found that if I exfoliated my face before putting on foundation my skin didn't take on that flaky look. ( It was really bad on my forehead. )
Also wetting the beauty blender made it go on better.
So exfoliate and wet the blender.
I now exfoliate my face twice a week and have no issues when I do decide to wear makeup. ( they say to exfoliate only once a week, I do it twice because my skin changes quickly and I get dead skin build up fast if I don't exfoliate twice a week) this is what made the make up look flaky. Maybe your face isn't like mine, but either way exfoliating once a week will make a difference.

Look into Mary Kay makeup brand. It’s the only foundation that has ever not irritated my skin

I went to Sephora last Friday to buy some tinted moisturizer. As someone who doesn’t wear makeup this was such an amazing product. The associate helping me tried on two different brands on my face and I chose this one. I just had a photoshoot a few days ago and my skin looked flawless! My friend said that it really evens out my skin and looks like I’m wearing foundation without all the fuss of having foundation! You should try this out if you’re not a makeup wearer like me!

Beautiful dress! Do whatever makes you more comfortable! If you normally don't wear a lot of make up and don't want to for your wedding, do a very natural look! There is beauty in simplicity too! Whatever you choose to do, I would definitely practice the look you want a couple different times before the day. Also, consult Youtube! There are tons of youtubers who recommend make-up products, how to apply the different products and different make up styles!
