Wedding Day lip color that stays!

Ashley, on September 13, 2018 at 8:47 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 19
I’ve seen a lot of ladies asking about lip color that stays put so they won’t have to reapply, so here’s my recommendation! I use LipSense (coworker’s wife is a rep) and YES it burns a little when you first put it on, but that’s because it’s alcohol based and that’s what makes it stick. If you’re prone to cracked lips, use exfoliators and chapstick a few weeks/days leading up to your wedding so your lips are smooth.

The below pics are me when I first applied the color yesterday morning (left) and me when I got to work this morning- 24 hours later (right). (Ignore my bloated face in pic 2, ew). The color hasn’t faded/smudged at all, the only difference is I don’t have gloss on in the picture on the right. It’s lasted 24 hours of eating, drinking, talking, smooches (from FH and dogs), and everything else I do on a daily basis.

I hope this helps some of you!!

*note: before you buy a color, if you can’t test it in person, look on Pinterest for how the color looks on different skin shades- every color looks about 3-4 shades darker on me than in the tube/stock photos*

Although I've heard great reviews about lipsense.....I believe a cheaper, just as good, option would be Covergirl Outlast long wear lipstick. Its about $7 at Walmart and from personal experience works great.

Glad you found a lipstick you like! I'm a huge fan of Stila and Kate von D lipsticks and have found they work great without drying out my lips.

I'm glad you both found something that works for you! I've tried those before but they just didn't have the staying power I needed, I tend to wipe my lips with a napkin instinctively while eating among other non-friendly lipstick habits so this is the only brand that works for me lol

I love Kat Von D too, but only the darker colors. Lipsense did not work for me. It burned and flaked off by lunchtime, even after exfoliating and moisturizing my lips. I wanted it to work so badly though since a lot of people rave about it. ☹️ None of the other long-wearing lipsticks work for me either except KVD dark colors - not KVD light colors, Pur, CoverGirl, Loreal, Butter, on and on. My lips hate them all.

Thanks for the tip however, I would never put anything on my lips or skin that burned. That’s a sign that the ingredient is not good for you and your lips are reacting to that.

No lipstick will stay on perfectly all through the wedding after you’ve eaten, drank and kissed all your guests. It’s not something to worry about. Reapplying. lipstick takes about 5 seconds and to be honest, if you’re having fun it will be the last thing you think about. I bought a lipstick and blotting powder from my MUA and guess what? I was so busy having fun I didn’t use them once and all my pictures still look great.

You've got a point there- the alcohol base makes it burn! But it lasts days once I put it on (it will 100% last perfectly all day on the wedding day), so I'll grin and bear it! I only use this brand when I need it to stay all day for events and whatnot, it's worth it for me because my lips absorb every other brand and it's gone in an hour or two- so frustrating!

Thanks for sharing! I’m sure it will be really helpful for those putting together their looks! I really like my Mellow creamy matte lipstick it goes on smoothly but pretty dry and stays on all day!

Like everyone said, thanks for the lip tip, Ashley!!! I myself like Revlon's colorstay liquid lip, but I am adding all of these on to my must-try list!! Do you plan on wearing this particular shade on your wedding day? Smiley smile

I actually have no idea. I like it a lot but I'm so worried it's too pink for me- I rarely wear lip color and when I do, it's neutral or bright red, so pink is an uncharted territory for me. I have such a pale/translucent sink tone/color that even light colors look dramatic on me, so I'm paranoid!

Girl, don't you worry, I am the exact same way. For what it counts, which if it doesn't I don't mind, I think this would be a great wedding day color. You do you, it's your day, but I think you rock it. Smiley sexy

Yes I wear lipsense daily and it only burns if you have cracked lips. This is because of the cosmetic grade alcohol in the color. It evaporates when it touches your lips. But it keeps the tube sanitary. It has a shelf life of 2 years because of the cosmetic grade alcohol. But of course applying anything alcohol based to crack skin will burn for a second.

The product itself is made of all good ingredients and contains things like St Johns Wart and Leaf extract which actually heals cracked lips better than wax based chapsticks.

And as far as staying all day through meals, drinking and kissing it actually does. I have worn it for 12 hours and it was still perfect. Reapplying lipstick may seem like a small thing but day of I do not want to be responsible for carrying anything and I don’t want to accidentally smudge my lipstick and have it on my teeth or face in any photos! Lipsense all the way!!

I wish Lipsense would work for me. I have tried everything they recommend to keep it on and it still flakes off. Makes me look like I have some kind of lip disease! Plus I couldn't use it with lip liner. My lips need liner!

I wear Cover Girl Outlast every day. But for the wedding, I will be using a Nars lip pencil I have.

I've never even used a lip pencil- what exactly is it for? Is it for the color, or more so to help you "stay in the lines"?? I could benefit from the latter lol

Love lipsense! My sister is a rep and I was so against it at first. But I'm a total convert now. My favorite part is that you can make your own shades by layering colors and it lasts all day for me. I will totally wear it for my wedding.

A lip liner? It helps to define my lips and yes, make sure that I get the lipstick where it is supposed to be. I find if I make an "x" in the center of my top lip (starting from each peak and coming down) that really works well. I have a pretty neutral one from Sephora that I use. It is their brand, small little black pencil. I should note that I have almost colorless lips when I don't have some kind of lipstick on, so it can be really difficult to get the lipstick in the right spots if I am not careful.

The lip pencil from Nars is more like lipstick, just in a chunky pencil form. It seems to stay on my lips very well and is easy to reapply.

I personally love the Sephora collection liquid lipsticks.

I used to do pro freelance makeup and worked at Sephora so I've tried it all.

My lips are the same! If I'm photographed without warning to put color on, I look like some alien creature with no lips. It's awful. I need to get some of that because I also have soo much trouble with that! It's a 30 minute ordeal. Thank you!

I love Lipsense. I had 23 colors before I decided to open an account for the discount. I now make extra money to pay for vacations, Christmas, etc. I sell through Facebook.
