So I know this may be TMI but what do you do if you are on your perioid your wedding day? I'm talking not just light bleeding but super heavy a pad an hour bleeding? So I know this may be TMI but what do you do if you are on your perioid your wedding day? I'm talking not just light bleeding but super heavy a pad an hour bleeding? It just occured to me that this is a very real possibility for me on my wedding day. I could be off though on my calculations since I'm not always regular. I would think tampons would be totally out of the question and pads aren't much better. I'm thinking about trying to change pads or tampons while in my wedding dress and the thought of blood on the gown before the ceremony(or at all) terrifies me. How do you handle a siituation like that? Also birth control isn't an option as I just started my period this morning and my wedding is next month so I wouldn't have a chance for it to kick in, not to mention I always gain a lot of weight on birth control.

I had the Depo shot once, I had 3 weeks on and 1 week off for a period for the whole 3 months. Wouldn't suggest that personally as something to try this close.

I, like Lori have a Mirena (on my second one) so I really haven't had much of a period in 6 years.

I'd slip out of your gown to do bathroom stuff in the stall then use the tampon/pad combo Smiley smile shorts too if you're stressed!

Another poster on WW said that she brews a cup of parsley tea (I don't know how she did it, but definitely was parsley) and that Spurs her period to come early. Maybe you could do that and just get it early instead of trying to push it back later?

Ps, I apologize on behalf of all of us light-period-that-lasts-four-days.. I cannot imagine not being able to wear a pad for more than an hour before I have to change it!

Birth control FOR SURE...it will keep the control in your hands. No period for your wedding day or your honeymoon. Just in cas you tend to bloat around that time, I would definitely start THIS Sunday....that way even those symtoms would be under control as well. If you get the pills and your period is still scheduled for your wedding day, just start a new pack. Good luck!!

I was always told by my OB "If you are soaking a pad every hour you need to go the the ER." I don't think that's normal.

I'm a lesbian, which means my "birth control method" doesn't affect my period even slightly (lol). But I'm also planning to wear a red dress and have a bloody zombie theme, so... Starting my period might help the décor. (Totally just a really gross joke. Sorry if it's too gross for some, but I was amused.)

I cant image having my period on my wedding day! OMG! A whole new thing to think about lol... You should go see your doctor this week and see if they can recommend some options for you. Sometimes they can give you a shot to stop your cycle from coming or even just a month worth of birth control pills. Fingers crossed you don't get it for your wedding!

I am worrying about the same thing. However, I have ave used these soft cups before. They're kind of messy if you're heavy when ti is time to take it out though. They're relatively easy to put in and you don't feel it. I've had intercourse with them in before and it doesn't obstruct anything. They sell them everywhere too! Smiley smile

Attached to this is what the box looks like. I used the disposable ones because.... EW.

Why would tampons be out of the question??

Honestly, not sure what your options are. Also not sure why you didn't think of this earlier lol.

I have no advice. I'm just so glad I don't have a period anymore. I used to make FH plan our vacations around it because mine just sucked so bad.

Mine sucks and is very irregular. I was hoping I'd be too stressed and it would delay my period... no such luck, I started the day before. I changed my tampon immediately before putting my dress on and also wore biker shorts under my dress. I never had to use the bathroom, but my intention was to just take my dress off if I needed to. I was lucky that I had a ballgown and my dress was easy-on, easy-off though. Definitely go the trash bag route if you're not as lucky.

Not sure if this would work for you, but I haven't had a full period in almost 5 years because of Mirena. Like. nothing that a panty liner can't handle. I'm not sure if it would work with your family planning, but might be worth a thought.

I am irregular too...I'm not even considering BC. I've used the cup for years...my only problem with it is overnight; it leaks sometimes. In the day, it's great, although it does take a level of comfort with oneself and would be more difficult in terms of cleanliness. But, no chemicals like in tampons. Anyway, I'd probably be fine with that (using gloves and a bag for the dress if a change was necessary) or a super tampon with a light pad. I also prefer tampex to playtex. Hopefully, we'll all be lucky and be period free on our days!! Ah female issues...

@AlmostMrs.Snapp - Instead Softcup was my immediate first thought too! I've used them since I was 16 years old.

Softcups are amazing! On my regular days I can go a full 8 hours, some times longer without having to change it. My 2nd and 3rd day are horrible, very heavy and painful. Even on those days I can go up to 4-5 hours without changing it. I prefer the disposable ones because it's easier.

After this post I say go for a Soft Cup or Tampon and Pad just in case. Definitely the trash bag too. That trash bag idea is awesome!

Thanks everyone. To answer the question as to why tampons are out for me it is because I go so heavy sometimes I have actually had the tampon fall out. I have seen my dr about soaking pads so quickly, and it is due to my endometriosis which causes extremely heavy, painful, irregular periods for me. I do like the softcups and have used them many times. That may be another option. Hopefully my heavy days will be done and I won't have to worry about it. I will use the trashbag idea for sure if needed.

I can't take birth control. It makes me psycho. I will have to either do the diva cup, or the softcup, or a pad an hour.... =/

One site suggested Evening Primrose and Red Raspberry

And then I discovered period panties recently. A friend of mine SWEARS by it! https://www.shethinx.com/
