My sister is currently stationed in Texas, her and her husband eloped and would love to celebrate with a reception and has asked me to help with planning, but we can't figure out where to actually hold it! His family is from New Mexico, we're from New Jersey and now its down to her and I bickering about costs and options...They've talked about picking a random state to marry in, like FL or Maine, but we're just all over the place!

I'll give our original details, they have since changed a bit because were eloping
Overall cost: 22,000
State: Boston, Ma
Number of guest:130
Length of reception:5 hours
Alcohol: limited open bar

Now.... From what we've been about to figure out through research, our anxiety is saving us about 1/2 our wedding budget, it looks like the new over all cost including destination elopement and very casual at home reception it about 10,000.

I'd choose by an area maybe in the middle or maybe research and see what each area costs
We've got a little place here In Missouri called little piney lodge in hermann Missouri ( known for bed and breakfasts and also wineries) that rents the grounds for the whole weekend to you. They aren't that expensive either and are really beautiful... It's 4500 for the whole weekend and up to 12 guests can stay, they have a pond a gazebo, a barn... Then if they cannot afford a honeymoon it's like a mini-moon.
Something along the lines of that would be neat.
We've also got the arch toward the airport and the zoo, Herman's a little bit of a drive from there but it'll still offer entertainment.

Onto my wedding:
Wentzville mo, 130 people budget was 10k came in about 8.5 without rings
No alcohol, our families don't drink!

Length of reception: We have 7 hrs total at the venue, but I think just the reception will be about 4hrs.
Alcohol: Signature drink hosted, everything else cash bar.

Overall Cost: I want to say about $5,000. When we are get married will be engaged for a year and ten months. Parents are helping pay for some things. We have been paying as we have been going.
