Wedding Cookie Table

Kara, on November 29, 2017 at 3:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

We are having a Cookie Table at our wedding so I have lots of people wanting to make cookies. Does anyone have a List of Cookies that are most popular for weddings or any other way to make it easier so we don't get too many of the same kind. TIA

Though this is similar to catering... Be aware of allergies.

I have a friend that's allergic to milk, peanuts and eggs...

You should check with your venue as well, to see what is allowed.

Well, then your friend probably won't eat a strange cookie without an ingredient list.....

    When we did cookie trays for parties; in order of popularity;

    Chocolate Chip

    Chocolate Chocolate chip

    Oatmeal Raisin/dried cranberry

    Peanut butter

    Mollasus

This is a Pittsburgh thing, right? I'd think your venue would be fine, but yes, you should check.

I love this idea, by the way!

If you have friends and/or family who were married already you should ask them what cookies they had. I'm sure the standard choc. chip, oatmeal raisin, m&m cookies would work. I'm not from Pittsburgh but I'm sure there are certain cookies that are supposed to be on a cookie table. Here's a website that might be helpful!

Celia, lol true. Not sure I can even call her a friend since the last time I talked to her she went off on me because I couldn't breastfeed my son when he was a baby... he's 8, why TF does it matter now? Lol

Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite.

Macadamia nut is really good too!

Adding on to other suggestions: pizzelles, buckeyes, pignoli, sugar cookies.

Also not in Pittsburgh but I went to a wedding a few months ago that the MOB and MOG made all the cookies for a cookie table.

They did thumbprint cookies, peanut butter cookies and a few different shortbread cookies. I

Here's a link to the Oakmont Bakery's wedding cookie reccomendations list. They are a really popular bakery here in Pittsburgh and for good reason. (Everything they make is insanely good!)

My FH's family is from Pittsburgh. We are having a cookie table at our 73 guest wedding. 8 types of cookies, 10-12 dozen of each type, except chocolate chip we expect to be the most popular with 20-24 dozen of those. Other types are peanut butter, melting moments (a white chocolate butter cookie kind of thing), polish wedding cookies, sugar cookies in the shape of flying pigs (for Cincinnati's mascot- the town we live in now), praline tarts, butterscotch, oatmeal rasin, and white chocolate macadamia. Make sure you include to-go baskets! My mom made cute ones out of her oragami paper cutting machine (I swear she just used the baskets as an excuse to get the machine, but that's neither here nor there).

It's also extremely popular in Northeast Ohio because it's typically an Italian tradition in that area. I have to agree with MrsMPhil as to what I've seen at most weddings I've been to with a cookie table. But definitely throw in some of the ones that Celia mentioned as well. It will be a crowd favorite for sure.

My FH and I want a cookie table too! I love this thread - helpful to see positive reception for it too Smiley smile We'll definitely need to make sure the cookies are labeled well. I've already had people say they want to make sugar cookies, classic chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies. How many do you think you'll have available per guest? That's what I'm trying to decide right now!

So, I'm not from PA and I'm curious now.. is this a replacement of cake or is this in addition to cake? I've honestly never heard of it being a tradition, and I think it is pretty awesome. FH is half Italian and didn't realize it was a thing, either, he just doesn't prefer cake and wanted to do cookies instead! Smiley laugh

We're having a cookie table too. We're doing chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal raisin, buckeyes, Oreo balls, and my friend is going to make her infamous white chocolate caramel cookies.

We are doing about 2 cookies of each type per guest. About 4 chocolate chip cookies per guest. Update the types of cookies has now grown to 10. So that's 10-12 dozen of 10 types of cookies each, 1200 -1440 cookies for 73 guests. We are getting married in the south though so most people won't know this tradition and hopefully won't take a ton of cookies. Also we do have much more cake than our guest list in addition to the cookies. Cookie table for us replaced a grooms cake.

I'm from Pittsburgh too and we are doing a cookie table! We actually had a piece of paper at our engagement party of the guests favorite cookies so we could get an idea but my family does this for every wedding! All of the above mentioned cookies are perfect and because my FH whole family are from the south I printed this poster on Vistaprint explaining the cookie table!
