janessa, on September 13, 2019 at 1:54 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19

I'm having trouble picking out colors for our wedding and theme. How'd did some of you guys decided the colors and theme for your wedding?

My wedding is going to be in July 2020

I chose a rustic theme once we decided on a venue, it just made sense with where we're having it. Plus rustic can be pretty easy to DIY, which most of our wedding will be in terms of décor and artificial flowers.

As for the colors, I kinda tricked myself into choosing them based off of the only artificial bouquets I liked on Amazon. So sage and peach it is! Considering adding a dusty blue or just ivory into the mix Smiley smile

I ended up going through a lot of Pinterest inspo and found which color palettes I gravitated towards. There was a clear pattern in which pins I liked! We ended up doing blush, ivory, sage for our summer wedding.

We always knew our colors would be our favorite colors in jewel tones, blue and green. I didn't even know I needed to pick a theme so just came up with a bunch of stuff that had us written all over it. There are a lot of nerdy and sentimental touches for us. I do like the idea of searching online to see what you gravitate to. Your wedding should be a reflection of you as a couple.

Originally my colors were going to be Burgundy (my favorite color), Olive (his favorite color which happens to go really well with Burgundy), and Sunflower (to brighten it all up).

Now, he has agreed to let me throw a Harry Potter themed wedding, so my colors are now the house colors xD

I honestly just went with colors I liked in general. So maybe you can choose one color and your groom chooses the other and see if they go well together

I did not have a set color scheme or theme. I'm not into themes. I let my MOH pick out her dress. She chose the color. My junior bridesmaid wanted to wear the same color. My husband has a few suits. He wanted to wear his grey suit. My florist chose the flowers which were a mixture of white, blue, pink and greenery.

You don't have to have set colors to have a wedding.

I'm having a rustic/military wedding in November. So I went with colors i thought would compliment the USMC and be nice choice for the season. If you use Pinterest they will give you so many great ideas for summer weddings!

We chose our theme based on colors we liked and that fit our holiday theme. The colors are red, mint-green and white. FH's favorite color is red and I love mint-green, so it was fairly easy to decide Smiley smile

My favorite color is blue and my favorite flower is sunflower so the dresses were dusty blue and the bouquets were sunflowers and blue hydrangeas. I would also say your venue will help you with a color palette. And look at Pinterest for lots of ideas.

I used my favorite color and my FH's favorite color then added complimentary accent colors to complete the color palette and bring our colors together. I picked the blue bom orchid as our main wedding flower which encompasses both of our colors.

We played off of the season and holidays but made sure to incorporate our own tastes. We're using shades of reds, greens, cream, white, and gold.

FH is retired military with 21 years of services. So when we got engaged and we talked about colors. He said I could choose any color I wanted. So with that being said...I chose to honor him back with using his military colors from being in the Army. Their colors are black/gold. I also threw in ivory as an accent color to give it a wedding look. I’ve attached some of the things I’m using to include the three colors. The cake, dresses, decor, tablecloth with runners, down to our wedding flowers etc... I’ve got a ton more pictures I could include but you get the general idea.

We went with our favorite color (blue) and then chose colors to accent that (peacock/jewel tones). We didn't choose a theme. I think themes can complicate things and make it more chaotic.

We went with our favorite colors. His is purple, (one of mine) is pink. We're having a spring wedding so we're going with light shades of both colors. I wanted a fairytale theme bc, well, I've always wanted one. It's coming together really nicely ☺

I based our colors/theme after choosing my dress. It’s very 30’s old Hollywood glam and decided that due to wedding being before Halloween, decided to do a dark gothic glam feel. Our colors are black, deep red, gold and ivory.

We were originally going to go with mint and red so we each got our favorite color. But a couple months ago we decided we want to do a DW with that being said we cut the wedding party and what not. And have just decided to go with bright beachy summer colors

To be honest, I chose the color palette because it came to my head, I saw ideas on Pinterest and it just solidified in my mind. My colors are eggplant purple, white and silver. I'm getting married in April, 2020Smiley heart
