Wedding color scheme help!

Philippa, on June 9, 2020 at 8:30 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15
Hello everyone! I would love some help choosing my color scheme!
We are having our DW in the spring. So I'm trying to go for brighter colors.
Factors to consider:My fiancé will be wearing white. This is his choice: he had a jacket tailor-made for him with this inspiration photo:Wedding color scheme help! 1
Note there is no gold on it though. My dress is white lace. So far our website and save the dates have been black and white, because we find this very classic. When asked, FH says his groomsmen will be in black and his tie should match my bridesmaids. He also has asked that my bridesmaids all wear the same dress, so no color shades. Our all inclusive venue includes free decor, most of which is white or simple greenery. So the bridesmaids dress seems to be the only thing that will have a pop of color. I'm leaning towards gold, but it's tough to get a vibrant gold without sequins, which my girls would rather not wear because it's super itchy. Thoughts? And where else can I incorporate color or will one main color be enough?

This sounds so classic! My parents had a black and white wedding. They did black dresses for the bridesmaids and had red roses throughout be their one pop of color to really draw attention to the red. I think any bright color would work as your one color; pastels might just fade into the background with the stark black/white contrast.

You're right that classic gold will be hard without sequins or itchy glitter, but what about champagne? You can find something dark enough that it doesn't look like the white outfits but still keep a classy black/white/gold look. I grabbed some pics from pinterest. The other option would be more of a blush which would still blend with a neutral pallate, or you could definitely do green if you want to pick up on the greenery!

Without sequins, I think it is going to be difficult to find gold dresses as most just end up looking yellow. Personally, I'm not a fan of gold. Flowers are another way to add color, but I'm not sure what color flowers you'd want to pair with gold though.

Did you ever think about having the girls wear all black? I think that might be the best way to go and for the pops of color you could really focus on your floral! Especially if all of the girls are in black and then they’re holding bouquets that totally make everything pop that will look amazing

I agree with the previous post to have black (or any neutral shade) as a backdrop for some creative bouquets. With the fabric your man is wearing, it looks like you're going for something a little more formal and crisp.

There are certain flowers that have a more formal look to them...typically simpler, more striking shapes like calla lilies, rather than fluffy and romantic like peonies. Or you could do all greenery, or succulents, etc.

Can’t go wrong with a classic black and white! I’d go for green if you want to keep a more natural look. But perhaps a hot pink or yellow for a bright pop of a bright spring color.

I hadn't considered having the bridal party in black, because it seems kinda gloomy. But now that you say it's true that it could look good with both me and FH in white and the color in the flowers. However, I do have bridesmen in my party and my FH has a groomswoman, which would make both parties look the same and not be distinguished.

I know what you mean. At first when I was trying to think about the dress colors I was going back-and-forth and then someone mentioned black. At first I was like no this isn’t a funeral, but then I started looking up wedding videos and photos and oh my God it looks so elegant and classy in my opinion. Hope this helps, and good luck you’ll figure it out! ♥️

So we are doing a black and white wedding with silver accents. I'm in white, FH in all black, BM in floor-length black, and the GM in black pants and white jackets. They will have accents of silver everywhere! So black and white is EXTREMELY classy and if you wanted to add a pop of color you could put them in green or a beige tan color like PP have said.

We're doing black and white as well based on our marble invites, with a pop of color. I agree though that green would probably be best to go with it if you're keeping it neutral. FH really wants to wear a navy suit so I'll probably pair his suit with a wine tie and then have that color pop in a few areas.

So classy! I was curious how they would look so I looked up some inspiration of real weddings. I personally would want some pop of color so my suggestion is teal like in this first link! Or if you want bold maybe a pretty sapphire blue. Good luck with everything, I think your wedding will be beautiful no matter what you decide!

Thanks all! I think this has made me realize that gold probably won't give me the pop I want, and neutrals/black I find a bit too bland. Champagne may work or a bright red or the sapphire blue!
