Wedding ceremony/reception ideas?

Kristi, on January 7, 2020 at 1:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Hello everyone!
My fiancé and I are planning to get married this summer anywhere from June to August, no set date but we have already priced everything vendors etc. and it is going to be about $4,000. It is about 80 people of just close family and friends. However, we both feel like $4,000 is a lot when we are saving for a home to buy and other things. I want to have a wedding for the memories and the photos and simple feel like I got married to my forever and had a wedding! However, I am having cold feet- we also wouldn’t be opposed to getting married somewhere like Lake Tahoe, maybe renting a home on the water with immediate family and a nice dinner- does anyone have any other ideas on how to do this? My uncle is marrying us and we want a private wedding/reception type. Hope this makes sense, def. looking for ideas Smiley smile

Lake Tahoe is beautiful! I would price everything out first though. In the summer you’ll probably spend minimum $600 a night on a house rental so I’m not sure it will end up being much cheaper. Only y’all can decide what amount of money you’re comfortable spending.

That’s totally true, I’m just not into getting married in a public place while by standers are watching-I already have enough nerves Smiley smile thanks for the comment though-totally didn’t think of that.

You would have a really hard time having 80 people at a wedding for $4,000. Usually, the reception is about half the cost of the wedding. So you're talking about $2,000 for the reception, which is $25 a person. Even assuming you use something like a restaurant rather than a venue rental, and skip a DJ/band or dance floor, can you feed people (including alcohol if any, tax, and tip) for $25 apiece? And if you can, is it going to be the type of wedding that will leave you with fond wedding memories?

I suspect immediate family and a nice dinner is a more realistic approach.
