Wedding ceremony outside in Florida in June

Morgan, on October 21, 2019 at 10:02 AM Posted in Florida Planning 0 11
My fiancé and I want to get married this June 2020 in Sarasota, Florida but I am aware that rainy season can start in Florida in June (I’ve lived here most my life). Is it a good idea? Reception would be inside only think outside would be ceremony. Please let me know your thoughts on weather in Florida in June!

I would 100% have a backup. June in Florida, as you know, can be wayyyy too hot to be outside for long plus you have the high chance of rain. If you want to aim for the outdoor ceremony, definitely do, but make sure you have a backup in case of rain or if it's too hot.

Agree with PP...Have a back up, because it could rain right before the ceremony and the humidity could be a huge factor in the comfort of you and your guests (not to mention your makeup and hair). [Also, it could be early enough in the season where you luck out]. I'm in Sarasota, and my biggest concern would be humidity.

Agree with PPs. You can give it a try, but I would have a backup plan for rain or extreme heat.

We got married on the beach on May 18 in Clearwater. I would say to make sure you have a backup. I would also say that later in the day or earlier in the morning would be better so it’s not direct sunlight. It will be hot!

Rain usually comes in the afternoon here, so for a morning ceremony you will probably be okay but you should definitely make sure your venue offers an indoor backup. Also, to repeat what PPs have said, it will be HOT. Like 90+ degrees by 10 am, unless you are right on the beach and have a breeze.

We are also doing an outdoor ceremony in June 2020 in Key Largo. Make sure to have a backup location in case of rain. Most of the time rain comes early afternoon (2-4 pm) then goes away. People always joke that if you don't like the weather in Florida in the summer, wait 20 minutes.

Having also lived in FL, I would be less concerned about rain and more concerned about my guests sweating to death. As long as you don't get married between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. you are likely to miss the rain unless there is a hurricane. But regardless of the time of day, you won't miss the heat or humidity in June.

If you are thinking of having a ceremony outside in June I would try to find something covered like a beach pavilion or a gazebo. Or possibly have an early morning or sunset ceremony to bypass the hottest part of the day. There is the Philippi Estate in South Sarasota that has really cute gazebos and you can book the estate for your reception. Or there is The Westin or Art Ovation hotels downtown that have rooftop areas were you could have a small ceremony. I've lived in Venice FL for 24 years and the only way I'd get married in June would be indoors.

I live in Florida and my suggestion is: Have a tent! It’s gonna be super hot. So maybe start closer to sundown or sun up when it is less hot.

I live in North Florida and it is HOT and humid!!! Rain is hit or miss. Make sure you account for humidity when doing hair and makeup.
