So I really want to have wedding cupcakes. Color theme is red and blue with a touch of gold and I've seen beautiful cupcake towers with these colors and I'm a fan. So I really want to have wedding cupcakes. Color theme is red and blue with a touch of gold and I've seen beautiful cupcake towers with these colors and I'm a fan. I believe cupcakes are a lot cleaner, easy to share, and same portion for everyone. But I feel like they will be more pricy since the baker would have to focus on a # of individual cupcakes and I don't know how popular they are for weddings. Has anyone tried cupcakes and/or what do you guys think of the idea?

I like cupcakes too! You can get more flavors and there are ways to make them look really classy. I'm going to skip the cake cutting tradition so I'll just let people eat them whenever.

And yes plan on having at leadt one for every person!

Everyone makes the cupcakes are messier argument... you know you don't have to eat them with your hands, right?

I like them over cake slices because they are more uniform. Everyone gets the same amount of cake and same amount of icing.

We're doing cupcakes. Sorry but bridal cupcakes look nothing like a kids birthday party... we are doing 4 different flavors and a top tier for an actual cake in a different flavor.

As for them being messy you don't have to eat them with you hands, I actually prefer a fork...

Honestly every wedding I've been to they have been a huge hit which traditional cakes, not so much.

ETA- also for y'all who say it's more expensive that's not always the case. For me if I get 2 PP it's still cheaper than a wedding cake with multiple flavors. It's all about finding the right baker

I think cupcakes are a nice favor for the guests. Sorry, but it's a wedding not a birthday party. Have a cake.

I just attended my first cupcake wedding, and the cupcakes where from the highest rated bakery in the state....but they were dry! This bakery is my favorite I looooove their cake. I think b/c the cupcakes were made early and sat around all day they dried out. I was so surprised. Just something to think about.

I had a small cake for cutting but loved the ideas of guest picking and trying different flavors opposed to 1 flavor per tier. I had 120 guest and 250cupcakes and by the end of the night only two were left. If you love it then do it. Its not about us just what you and your love want.

I'm doing a small cake to cut into, and then cupcakes. I am verrrry picky about how I want them done, and my baker is working with me to provide exactly what I want! my cupcakes will be decorated with buttercream flowers that will match the flowers in our bouquets.

I was wondering the same thing. I feel a cake would be way cheaper.

Small two tier cake (top for saving, second for cutting) and then 4 dozen cupcakes. Gave us the opportunity to choose 5 different flavors of cake for guests to choose from without breaking the bank like a cake with that many flavors would.

We are having basic cupcakes with different flavors. We are also having a chocolate devil's food cake as the groom's cake and a red velvet cake

We are doing cupcakes for the versatility. Plus we are having a small brunch wedding and a big wedding cake just didn't make sense. I think they can be elegantly done, but you do have to be careful it doesn't go too birthday party in the decorations.

My mom went to a cupcake wedding recently. She was sure it was going to have that "b-day" kid feel. She said she was 100% surprised. Elegant. Worked.

We are doing cupcakes which are square and larger than usual, so they can be cut with a fork and eaten elegantly. Then we will have a top cutting cake. That way we will have lots of different flavors. It is more expensive this way, but since it is basically a DW, it is less stressful for us to not have to worry about having a cake made and transported.

The cupcakes are $5 each, but if we have a cake made we pay for the cake and then $2 pp for the slicing, so the cupcakes may actually be cheaper now that I think about it.

We're doing a small cutting cake and then cupcakes and mini-pies (cupcake size) form this amazing baker! It's more of a dessert table feel then a formal cake, which suites us and our venue really well. We're doing 2 types of cupcakes and 2 types of pies.
