Wedding cake for immediate family only?

We're having a buffet which includes several desserts. Is it okay to serve our wedding cake to the bridal party and our parents' table only? We have about 150 guests. The cake was expensive and will only serve less than half of our total guests. I really don't want to order a sheet cake due to extra...

We're having a buffet which includes several desserts. Is it okay to serve our wedding cake to the bridal party and our parents' table only?

We have about 150 guests. The cake was expensive and will only serve less than half of our total guests. I really don't want to order a sheet cake due to extra costs. Can I get away with this?

    Another guideline I followed (in regards to cake) was, don't get a flavor that you know most people will not enjoy. For example, I went to a wedding where the cake flavor was white cake with strawberry and coffee fillings...at the same time. I like coffee, a lot don't, but strawberry and coffee filling was gross. Nobody at my table of 10 liked it. Not even my son and he's a Hoover and will suck down anything he can eat.
