Wedding Attire: Ceremony vs Reception

The Bride, on July 20, 2019 at 10:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

My 18-year-old cousin, who is an aspiring clothing designer, made my wedding dress. I was so proud of her that I wore the same dress for my entire wedding day. I took the day to really shine a light on my little cousin and allow people to admire the work that she had done.

Will you be wearing the same attire for your ceremony and reception? Why or why not?

I’m wearing the same dress for the entire event. I paid way too much to only wear it for 30 minutes.

Yes. I love it, it's expensive, I'm too lazy to get dressed twice.
I'm so amazed you were lucky enough to have your cousin make yours!

Even if I wanted to change I think the time crunch would have been too tight.

Thank you! I spent just as much money if not more money then I would have if I brought a dress from a store like David's Bridal but I wanted to give her more exposure. I was her first plus-size client and her first wedding dress.

I'm wearing the same dress. I did consider changing it because mine was cheap and in my culture people tend to change into the cultural dress during reception but I'm also lazy ahaha so I just wanted to be in my wedding dress only. Especially because you'll never really get the chance to wear it again.

I always thought I would want a second dress or reception dress but I think I might just stick with one dress.

I think either choice is perfectly okay.

We wore our dresses for the ceremony, the reception after the ceremony, and the at-home reception. Given the ridiculous amount that a wedding dress often costs, especially for something you can only wear one day, we were going to get as much use out of them as possible. (And our dresses were from a consignment store, and I resold mine afterward; I just can't imagine getting more than one dress that costs thousands.)

I have 2. Why.... Several reasons. 1 I hate the way tulle is bustle. I wanted a long train. But also I had major dress regret. If I found the second dress I bought first, I would have only gotten that one.

I'm glad you could come to a compromise even though you don't love your dress.

I'm not sure yet. Haven't bought a dress. It's a July wedding and will be hot so changing is not out of the question.

I might have two dresses, not entirely sure though. It really depends on the wedding dress I buy. Hopefully I'll buy one that I won't feel the need to change out of (e.g dress that is way too poofy, etc)
